She was running. Running from a beast. Running from death. But how could such small legs outrun a creature with none?
She tripped, face-first into the moist soil. Her large, innocent eyes darted back at the beast that was now at her feet. It rose into the air, waving the rattle on it's tail like a hypnotist.
It's eyes pierced her soul like lightning. A coat of scale tipped it's body; fangs drooling with killer venom. It stayed like that for a few moments then dove for her leg and sank it's fangs into her soft skin.
She stared in horror; not in pain. Screams could be heard as the world began to slip away like shadows into shade. Black dots and tears blurred her vision.
Then, the world turned black.
