Six months ago.

Ever since that night with Kyojuro, you couldn't stop thinking about how amazing he was in bed. Unfortunately, he hasn't touched you since. From time to time, the two of you would make slight physical contact.

Kyojuro didn't discard you or stop caring about you; rather, he recognized that he had crossed a boundary that night. You were still married, and although your circumstances were unique with divorce proceedings underway, it wouldn't be right to start a relationship. You knew Kyojuro was a nobleman; at times, he seemed older than he was. When he sat you down one night to explain his feelings, you understood his perspective.

However, today was different. In the afternoon, you received a call from your lawyer informing you that your divorce had been finalized. Despite now being a single woman, you didn't take the news well.

You had to excuse yourself from work for the rest of the day, leaving abruptly before Kyojuro could ask what was wrong. It was fortunate that you had driven separately that day. Even if you were surprised by your reaction, maybe you needed some time to acknowledge and mourn the end of what was once your marriage. Despite any feelings for Sai dying months ago when he betrayed you.

Kyojuro didn't follow you outside; he understood that whatever you were dealing with, you needed time alone.

But there was someone else in the office who couldn't bear to see you leave without knowing what was wrong.

Giyu knocked on your car window while you had your hands on your face, trying to stop your crying. When you looked up, he gestured for you to open the car door.

Throughout these six months, you developed a sibling-like relationship with Giyu. He had become an older brother figure to you, someone you could rely on, and the feeling was mutual. With that being said, he wouldn't let his "little sister" runoff in distress without checking in on her.

"You alright?" he asked as he closed the car door.

You answered, attempting to compose yourself, "Not really."

"What's going on?" he asked gently.

"My divorce is finalized," you muttered.

His eyes widened. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know—"

"No, you wouldn't have known," you reasoned. "I just never expected this outcome in a million years."

He nodded in understanding. "Well, think about it this way: you're finally able to do what you love. You have people who support you and appreciate your presence. These are people who would never betray you. I know Kyojuro wouldn't." He cleared his throat. "Kyojuro has never seemed happier, and that's saying something because he's always happy. I think this guy really wants to give you the world. I'm not saying forget what's happened, but try to look at the future more positively."

You looked at him, finding his words reassuring. There would be better days ahead. You didn't know what to say.

"Thank you, Giyu," you smiled gratefully.

"Anytime. But for now, just rest. I know it still hurts, and that's entirely understandable," he said gently. Opening the car door to exit, he added, "Take care of yourself, Y/n."

When you got home, you rotted away in bed. Perhaps you owed it to yourself to take a break, even if just for one day. At some point, you realized it was later in the day when you heard Kyojuro come home.

He didn't hesitate to check on you; it pained him not to. Maybe he should have chased after you, but he feared it might not have been what you needed and worried you might be upset with him.

He knocked on your door and asked softly, "Can I come in?"

You allowed him to come inside your room. He took a seat beside your bed while you lay next to him.

"What happened?" he asked, cocking his head and looking at you intently.

You sighed deeply, "They finalized my divorce."

"Well, you can't blame yourself for reacting this way. You were with him for a very long time," Kyojuro reasoned gently. "But now that it's over, you can begin moving on completely."

"Yeah," you said, sitting up next to him. "Did I miss anything important today?"

"Actually yeah! There's a company beach day this weekend. Everyone's welcome, including people who don't work there," he said excitedly.

"Oh shit, are you going to go?" you asked.

"Most likely, do you not want to go?" he replied.

You grinned, "No, I do. I think it'll be good for me."

"I think I know something else that might be good for you," he said gently. "Do you want to go on a date tonight?"

You were taken aback by his question but then chuckled, "Of course, but this is so sudden."

"No it's not." he chuckled back, "From the moment your divorce was finalized, you became single."

He leaned in close and whispered in your ear, "I can make you mine now."
