You and Kyojuro made a bet that had you scrambling to slip on your shoes. The person who got ready faster wouldn't have to pay for dinner, which seemed odd to you since he was the one who had invited you out in the first place. You thought it might've been his way of getting you out of the house faster, which you found kind of cute.

Tonight, you wore a sundress that beautifully complemented your curves. The summer weather made it almost impossible to wear anything else. Glancing at your mirror, you applied the final touches of your makeup.

When you hurried downstairs, confident you had won the bet, you were surprised to find Kyojuro already there, scrolling on his phone and waiting for you.

Kyojuro turned to look at you, his eyes widened. He loved how you looked when you were all dressed up for work, but seeing you pamper yourself drove him wild.

"Damn, how the hell do you get ready so quickly?" you ask, amazed at his speed.

"Well, I did warn you," he shrugged as he got up, "I could be a ninja."

As you reached for the doorknob to leave, you suddenly felt him press up against your back. His hands slid around your waist, pulling you closer.

"Eat light." he whispered into your ear.

Kyojuro gave you a small peck on the cheek, but it made you feel weak in the knees. While he would show physical affection at times, he was always mindful not to overstep any boundaries.

When you arrived at the restaurant, Kyojuro handled the reservation and got you both seated quickly.

This was your first official date with him; you had gone out before, but not like this. Tonight marked the potential beginning of a romantic relationship. It felt more intimate, with the restaurant being fancier and more expensive than the ones you had visited before.

Despite living with Kyojuro for almost seven months, he didn't know much about your life before him. He was familiar with your interests and some personal preferences, like your love for anything mango-flavored and your hatred for anything made of polyester. But he knew nothing about your childhood or even your parents.

He took a sip of champagne that the waiter had brought. "I was wondering if I could ask you some questions," he said.

You replied, cocking your head, "Like what?"

"Let me think," he said, pausing to gather his thoughts. "Where are your parents?"

"My parents and I aren't in contact," you explained, gazing outside as the moon began to rise. "My dad left for Colombia sometime after my parents separated during my first year of high school. I moved out when I started college. I have a brother, but I don't know where he is now."

Before he could respond, you asked, "And what about you?"

"Hold on, you just shared some heavy information. Can I ask why you no longer speak to any of them?" he asked, his voice reflecting concern and curiosity.

There was a moment of silence and hesitation before you began to speak. "I mean, they were all very selfish in their own ways. My brother did care about me, but things changed after I started going out with Sai. My mom has always been fixated on her image, and my dad was the same. Turns out, when you're with someone who's exactly like you, it doesn't always make for a good match," you chuckled.

He nodded thoughtfully. "I'm glad you didn't turn out like that. There are always bad seeds. You're very strong, Y/n. I admire you for what you've been through," he said sincerely.

There was a bit of silence before he spoke again.

"My mom passed away when I was 14," he said softly, a smile crossing his face as he reminisced about her. "She was wise and gentle. She was just amazing," he added warmly.
