I want to know beauty.
I want to bask in it. See it, in all of it's wonder, and know it. Take it in and remember it. But I guess, in order to do so, one must know what beauty is.
So, what is beauty? What defines something as "beautiful"?
Is beauty just glorified modern art? An astonishing new discovery? Or maybe a detailed and cryptic poem you once read. It may be the miracle of birth or the science behind waves. Or even a peacefully sleeping cat, pawing at you when it's 4am and you want to sleep, but can't help but stare at the beast. How about a picture, taken at the precise second, an angle that defines the image and captures the moment, leaving you staring wondrously.
In reality, it is all of those things. Beauty is dependent upon ones perspective. Beauty leaves the onlooker in a world of wonder and doesn't let go. Beauty leaves you awestruck and clueless as to your original intent. Beauty, is everywhere, and if you're searching for it and finding nothing, it seems you're just not looking in the right place. So go for a midnight stroll, or maybe to the beach to see the waves crash and the sun rise high, or to the forest to be with the trees.
Beauty is out there, and you will find it. It just takes a little searching, and a little time, but one day you'll find it and know. So go find exactly what you think is beautiful and I hope it leaves you breathless. If not, it is not true beauty.
But remember, it's not always the destination that holds the true wonder and reason. Sometimes, the journey gives you exactly what you were searching for.
