Chapter 3.1

Lei was now in front of an Automated Teller Machine.  Eksaktong ala-una ng hapon.  Dito siya agad pumunta  pagkatapos niyang magkape at maligo  sakanyang boarding house ilang oras matapos niyang iwan si Zach sa hotel suitenito kagabi.Nang makatulog ang lalaki, dali-dali siyang nagbihis at umalis.  Sinadya niyang hindi ipamalay dito ang kanyang pag-alis dahil batid niyang hindi naman kailangan.  She was done with her job, more so, done with that hateful chapter of her life.

After pressing the ‘savings inquiry’ button, she blinked her eyes several times while anxiously waiting for  the expected amounttobe flashed on screen.  Her heart almost jumped to her throat upon seeing a huge amount of 500,000 pesos.  Ito ang kabuuan ng bayad ng grupo nina Jake ayon sa nakasaad sa pinirmahan nilang kontrata.   The other half was already given to her on the day that she signed the contract.

She heaved a sigh of relief.   Saglit na nawala ang kalungkutang nararamdaman  nang maisip niyang mababayaran na niya ang balance sa hospital bill ng kaniyang ina at may konti pang matitira sa savings niya, sapat upang magamit niya sa darating niyang graduation.

 After withdrawing certain needed amount, she placed the hard-earned money inside her old sling bag and immediately looked for a  taxi.  She would visit her mother in the  Philippine General Hospital. According to her younger brother who texted her this morning, the surgical operation of their  mother was successful  and she was now transferred to a semi-private hospital room for recuperation.

A thankful smile flashed on her rosy lips at the thoughts of her mother.  Sulit lahat ng sakripisyo niya.  Kabirhenan lang ang nawala sa kanya at hindi ang buo niyang pagkatao. Anyways, she knew that this precious thing was really destined to be taken by  somebody. Alam niyang darating at darating ang panahong iyon.   But what gave her a deepest regret was the fact that it was taken by a stranger and not by the man whom she would marry someday just like what she promised to herself.

Habang nakatayo sa gilid ng kalsada ilang metro ang layo mula sa tinutuluyang boarding house ay lumilipad pa rin ang isip niya.  Until now, she couldn’t fully understand why some people like the group of Jake could waste such enormous amount  only for the sexual gratification of a friend. But anyway, she was still thankful that these men hired her to do that one-of-a-kind job.  Her financial problem was easily solved and her beloved mother would surely have a longer life at the expense of her precious virginity.

Her vision turned misty as she tried to control the solitary tear now peering in her eye. She must move on.  Tapos na ang masakit na kabanatang ito sa buhay niya.  Kungsabagay, desisyon niya ito. Desisyon niyang isakripisyo ang sarili alang-alang sa minamahal na ina. At alam niyang wala siyang dapat sisihin kundi ang nakagisnang kahirapan.  She bit her lips.  The ultimate sacrifice she had done last night only fortified her desire to become rich.  Yes, she needed to become rich at all costs, so that she would no longer sacrifice anything in her life whenever financial difficulties strike her family again.    Ngayon niya napatunayan na kapag maraming ka palang pera, kahit dangal at dignidad ng tao ay kaya mong bilhin.

Katulad ng ginawa sa kanya ng Alpha Sigma Rho fraternity.

Napatungo siya.  Nagsisimula na naman siyang mahabag sa sarili.  Her jaws tightened when she thought on how she played like a whore last night.  But she did it not for herself, but for her beloved mother. May mas hihigit pa ba sa sakripisyo na ginawa niya?

Isang malalim na buntong-hininga ang pinakawalan niya.  Itinunghay niya ang kanyang mukha.  Nobody can stop her now.  She would become rich in her own way.  With her beauty and brain mixed with a very strong disposition in life, there’s no reason why she couldn’t turn her ambitions into reality. Siya pa na ilang beses nang napatunayan sa sarili na gamit ang tapang at diskarte ay kayang makuha ang anumang ninanais gaano man kahirap ang mga iyon.

Isang taxi ang pinara niya. Pagkaupo sa loob ng taxi ay agad niyang sinabi sa medyo may katabaang driver kung saan siya magpapahatid.  Nang marahan itong tumango ay agad niyang  isinandal ang pagal na katawan sabay pikit ng mata.  She wanted to sleep.  Mula pa kaninang madaling araw  ay paulit-ulit na mukha at mga eksena ang nakikita niya sa kaniyang imahinasyon.  And she was dying to escape from all those hateful thoughts. Even for just a minute. But she, too, was doubtful if she could do it.

And she was right! How could she do that if every time she closed her eyes,  the handsome face of the man who popped her cherry would appear? Just like now. She could see his  chiseled face   again, sarcastically smiling and teasing her. 

Malakas siyang napapitlag sabay bukas ng mga mata.    What’s happening to her?  Ang guwapong mukha ni Zach, bakit tila nakapagkit ito sa kanyang mata at utak? 

Pagkatapos ng nangyari sa kanila kagabi ay isinumpa niya sa sarili na kalilimutan na niya ang lahat.  Na ibabaon niya sa limot ang gabing nag-ala prostitute siya alang-alang sa pera.  Pero kung bakit parang tukso na hindi mawala sa isip niya ang lalaking unang umangkin sa kaniya?  She couldn’t explain to herself, why was it that the more she tried to forget that man, the more he lingered in her mind?  Especially his extra ordinary animalistic appeal, his handsome face , his leaned body and his…  Oh, shit! His manhood. 

He was her first, and how she could forget that moment when he loved her very passionately as if there was a legitimate  intimacy between them.  He made love with her as if she was his girl.  His kiss, his touch and his gestures were clear  signs of his being  a great lover.   At hindi lang ang itsura at kabuuan ng lalaki ang laging umuukilkil sa isip niya kundi maging ang napakasarap na  karanasan bilang babae na nalasap niya mula rito. Nakakahiya man, aminado siya sa sarili na kakaiba ang mga sandaling iyon.  Pakiramdam niya ay nakakulong pa rin siya sa matitipunong bisig nito.  Nalalanghap pa rin niya ang pabango nito na parang dumikit sa kanyang balat kahit ilang beses siyang nagsabon kaninang  naligo siya.  She unintentionally touched her lips upon remembering the sweet kisses he planted on them.

Shit.  She cursed herself.  Hindi niya dapat hanap-hanapin ang lalaking iyon.  Hindi rin siya dapat umasa na magkikita pa sila.  Kahit  aminado  na naakit din siya sa lalaki, hinding-hindi  naman niya nanaisin na makita pa uli ito.  Never, as in never or she would kill herself.  He would be the last man on this planet that he would desire to see again.

Biglang bumahid ang lungkot sa mukha niya.   She painfully swallowed.  She admitted to herself the strong attraction she had for Zach. This was the first time that she felt this strange feeling towards an opposite sex.   Sayang. She clicked her tongue.    Why did they have to meet in a very strange way? Nope, in a very shameful way? Ano kaya ang iniisip nito tungkol sa kanya ngayon? Or was he thinking of her also at this very moment?
