I figured Genya was going to lead me to this new room but I was wrong as I saw him motion for me to follow him. I walked a bit distance behind him knowing that every part of me was hesitant around him. I didn't trust him or his intentions as we walked but as we stopped by a door I noticed he was thinking of something like my current Kefta in my arms.
"You seem hesitant, Amira." General Kirigan said "It makes you look suspicious on how hesitant you are."
"I know a few things, whether they are true or not depends on what Baghra said ." I said
He tapped a door that was just before the black doors of his chambers and I looked at it. I knew this must be it and he was keeping me awfully close to his own room. He opened the door and I looked at the luxury of the room. It was made for a sun summoner that was clear but the intrigue of lighting. It was so bright and spacious compared to my old room and I was quiet.
"Your new room, probably much more comfortable." General Kirigan said
"One would think you want to keep me close, General?" I said with a joking smile yet his expression stayed the same.
I started realizing It was actually the truth and I knew there was so much more going on. I saw him pull the door close and then take my hand as he led me to his chamber area. I was in shock cause I knew not many went into his chamber area where he did all the planning. Once inside I saw there was so much black it was overpowering that I questioned if he ever got any light.
"We need to talk." Kirigan said
"I believe we do." I said calmly
I knew that last night's kiss had to be discussed and we were not going to get to the bottom of this without talking. He led me to an area where we could sit and I kept my seat at a distance knowing there was nothing I wanted yet.
"How about we start with what you know of me?" Kirigan said as he went to get something to drink for us and while I watched his back I kept watch on his back. "The Starless saint, the eternal one. Black Heretic." I said
He stopped at my words as I knew quite a bit, I knew he was the reason for the fold to begin with. Baghra had given me quite a bit to ponder over and I was going to be the one to see it right somehow. If my powers were indeed limitless then I had the potential to do anything I wanted. He walked back over and handed me a drink. I took it out of being kind as he sat there looking at me, his look seeming to be looking for my intentions. I had none.
"So you've known all this time?" Kirigan asked
"I've known some. Do you want to destroy the fold?" I asked
"Yes." He said "It's been a burden on Grisha and the world."
I kept watch on his eyes while he seemed sincere about destroying the fold he seemed to be contemplating his own questions. I took a sip after all. If he needed me then he wouldn't poison me. Like him I was Grisha and possibly could be his equal if he were to let me get my powers up over time.
"You kept your distance, laid low for so long it must have been tiring." General Kirigan said
"Nine years, it wasn't all bad. I had three people in all of the Grisha to turn to in my need." I said
"Baghra kept you hidden well." Kirigan said
I looked at him seriously as I sat the cup down knowing that last night he had to have been spying on me and my parents. He knew the truth about my father and I was going to make sure that my father was kept out of this. I didn't care if I had to work out some other arrangement to do it.
"You were there, by my private training area again. I felt your shadows close by, so what do you know?" I asked
"You come from a tidemaker and a secret sun summoner." Kirigan said
I got up when he told the truth about my dad as I knew there was one thing I wouldn't tolerate: it would be my dad's safety. My dad chose a life of secrecy and that was his wish to do so that I respected. I expected he would have told me to sit down but he just stared at me waiting to see my next words.
"My father's power stays hidden." I said
"Very well but the focus will fall to you as a dual summoner." Kirigan said as he got up and approached me where we were standing face to face. "Now there is something else you wanted to talk about. I know there was."
"Last night, you kissed me so suddenly." I said
"You didn't seem opposed to it, Amira. You rather seemed to like the idea of it." Kirigan said as he again touched my cheek and I felt my heart skip a beat. "You seemed to have the intention yourself last night."
What is going on? I thought
"I.. You and I are opposites, Shadow and Sun." I said
"two sides of the same coin, shadows surround the sun for their warmth while the sun brings light to the shadows." Kirigan said
I realized that my whole life I'd been thinking about what I would do when we finally met, the one my parents said would possibly be who I could spend my Grisha life with. I reached up and touched his wrist as my light surrounded us. He seemed to be taking it in like he'd been waiting to find someone with the power I had.
"You are very special, Amira." Kirigan said as I changed the light to water and he noticed as he could see for himself that I really did do both. "Was it hard to do this in the beginning?"
"It was, I would faint when using them as a child." I said
He seemed to be taking everything I could do before I got myself free and started to head for the door. I needed to get some space from him to get my heart to stop racing with him so close. I had to lie to myself and say I hadn't been looking forward to this day he knew but I knew that would be a lie. Sun and Shadow, two sides of the same coin and drawn together, was inevitable but as I made it to the door I heard his hand on the door stopping me from leaving the room.
"Why are you in such a rush Amira?" Kirigan said
"I don't want the trouble that will come with this. All the Grisha girls want to be your pet and I refuse." I said, closing my eyes, "I refuse to be anyone's pet."
I felt him turn me around and he would have noticed my eyes were closed. Still I felt him put a hand on my cheek again and I couldn't help opening my eyes to look at him. He rubbed his thumb on my cheek as he looked at me and my honesty.
"You are not a pet, I find those desperate grisha women to be a little absurd." Kirigan said as he leaned in close, "You, Amira could be so much more."
It was becoming hard to resist when he was being so gentle and protective with me. I knew what I had been hoping for what I had joked about but this was a little too fast. I turned my head before I could give in to kissing him again.
"I'm sorry this is just too much right now." I said and I got free leaving his chambers and headed to my new room leaving him there alone.
