~two weeks later~
"My lady! The dress has arrived!" Grace, my servant and closest friend shouts. She runs down the corridor toward my robe-clad form. Behind her, three ladies-in-waiting are running, holding a lot of white fabric above the ground. Grace quickly whisks me into my room. She unites my robe faster than light and before I could even take a breath, she's put the dress over my head.
She cinches the corest top and fluffs the skirt, while the other women flit about adding a touch of blush here and a hairclip there.
"You look marvelous, princess. Prince Dean is so lucky to marry you." A tear slips down her cheek. I take her hands in mine and squeeze them. She gives me a proud smile and finishes up with my dress.
~two hours later~
I peek through the crack in between the doors. Butterflies fly around nervously in my stomach as I look down the aisle at my future husband. He looks at the back of the church to the doors where I'm standing. He can't see me, but I see him smile at the thought of me being right behind these doors.
"It's time," my father says. I nod and loop my hand around his arm. Guards open the huge oak doors. My breath hitches and we round the corner. My dress flows around me. Dean's eyes go wide and he smiles sweetly, tears coating his lashes and threatening to spill over. My father leads me up to the altar and Dean takes my hands.
"You look so beautiful," he whispers, his voice broken by tears of joy.
"You," I can't finish my sentence as tears spill down my cheeks. "I promised myself I wouldn't cry." I take my hands from his and wipe my face. Dean chuckles his sweet-like-honey chuckle.
The priest begins the ceremony and soon enough, there's a ring on my finger, and Dean has me by the waist, pressing his soft lips firmly against mine. I reach my arms up and run my fingers through the hair at the base of his neck. Dean releases me and the guests cheer.
A wonderful reception ensues after that. My mother and father announce their official retirement and Dean and I are crowned King and Queen of the Eastern Kingdom.
"Congratulations, Jamie and Dean," my mother says, smiling sweetly. "I'm so happy for you two."
"Thank you, Mother," I say, returning the smile and clutching to Dean's arm.
"Now, I'll distract the guests while you two sneak away to your new bedroom, already prepared for you, for your wedding night." My mother winks and walks up to some other guests. Dean and I take the back stairs meant for servants up to the King and Queen's chambers. No one disturbs us for the rest of the night.
In the following year, our daughter Samantha Grace is born.
