How to keep them safe?
How to shield them from the cruel world?
How to protect them?
How to keep them pure?How?
Well, Don't lock them in golden cages
Don't shun them when they want to break freeDon't scar them with the stories of monsters in the outside world,
'Cause lets be honest
We have seen plenty in our householdsDon't teach them the cliches
Don't dictate do's and do not's
Don't patronise them for their ideas
Don't make your opinion their verdict
And please
Don't make them doubt their instinct
Don't let something deep and beautiful get lost under something shallow and fakeYou want to protect them,
Then empower themMake them confident
Make them tough
Make them believe in themselves
Make them warriors,
Hidden beneath grace and kindnessExplain to them the world,
The way it is.
Explain the cruelty,
But do explain humanity as well.
Teach them the ways of the world
And then encourage them to find their own way.Let them be their own person
Let them have their own beliefs
Let them make their own decisions
Let them trust
Let them fall
Let them learn and grow
And then trust some moreIf you really want to keep them safe
Then set them free
You can stand behind them
Like a strong pillar
And they will know, they can lean on it
They will know, that they have home
Which will accept them no matter what
Which will love them
And fill them with warmth
When the world outside
Goes too harsh and too coldBeing there, just being there
Not trying to change
Not trying to control
Just the presence enough
Will defend them
Will protect them
Will keep them safe
And will save them.
