Chapter 11. Not As I Thought

It was my first day, I was introduced to other staff members who work directly under Mr. Azriel. All of them seemed so much experienced and I seem to be the youngest among them. I just wish I am able to be good at work just like them. As my office was right beside Mr. Azriel's, we went together after meeting the other staff members and as we reached he pointed out the table. I was certainly confused what he meant then I asked him, "Mr. Azriel, I'm sorry, but I didn't get you." He then replied in a very firm voice, "Sara, these are the files which needed to be submitted to different departments before you get off work today and there has been a lot of work left by my previous secretary And also make sure to check my afternoon schedule and inform me about the meeting."

I was completely blank and seriously, I was feeling dizzy at that moment cause it's just my first day! I saw Mr. Azriel looking at me with a serious look and I could feel it sharply at me and then I said, "Sure sir, I will get it done by today!"

"I am completely screwed! I thought he wasn't an arrogant boss and quite polite but turns out I was wrong about him. Come on! It's just my first day!" I mumbled to myself.

It was already lunch time and I was starving but there is so much work to do. Shyna came to meet me and asked,"Hey...Sara. How is work going on? Let's have lunch together. The cafeteria is just so damn big and beautifully designed. Sara....you listening?" She shook me up.

I then said, "Shyna, I am completely screwed." She asked me what had happened.

I explained her the whole situation and asked her to go for lunch with Katherine or her department members cause I had lots of work to be Done fast!

By three in the afternoon I had completed all the incomplete work of the previous secretary as well as all the piles of files. The last task was to make a report of everything and show it to Mr. Azriel. I was just about to complete the report when the telephone rang and there was someone with a bold voice speaking to me and asking, "Is this the Managing Director's office?" and in response I said, "Yes Sir. How may I help you?" and then he said,

"Well, I am speaking from Magenta Automobiles and we have a meeting with the MD of Greenyard.Co for today at 6 p.m. So? " I was quite puzzled.

I thought it could be his previous secretary as the appointments go on a month advancement. I replied to him, "Sir, I will confirm it in a short while. As I am the new secretary and I think you talked before to the previous secretary and she had confirmed the schedule. So please give me ten minutes. I will get back to you shortly." And he told me that he would be waiting and hanged up the call.

I wondered whom to ask. So I went to the strategy department and asked my seniors if they had the contact of the previous secretary. And finally, Mrs. Jennie had her contact. She is the organizing manager of the department. It was already over 4 p.m. and I had to hurry.

I called the previous secretary and asked, "Hello....is this Mrs. Mary?" and then she replies in a very firm voice and replied, "Yes it is. May I know, who you are?" I then explained to her, the whole situation and asked her to help me out. She replied in a stern manner asked me to check the scheduled log document in the computer and told me not to call her again and hanged up the call. I was really surprised as well scared too. She seemed so unhappy about the whole conversation which even gave me goose bumps. I was tidying up things as I had to inform the person on the call as well as tell Mr. Azriel too about the appointment one hour prior. Finally I had found the log document. She really had arranged everything beforehand. It was like she had planned before only when to leave the office. But let's not worry about that now I thought to myself.

It seemed like there was a meeting fixed for a collaboration purpose for the new project. I called to their office and confirmed the meeting. They had emailed the address details and asked me to check it out. Now the last task was left to prepare the report and also add the meeting appointment in the report. By 4:50 pm I had completed the report and now it was time to submit the report. My hunger was lost as I submerged into the work which seemed unending.

I knocked and asked if I could come into his office. He simply nodded and then I entered with the final report. I said, "Mr. Azriel I have finished with all the files and this is the full report on all the files. And one more thing that, you have a collaboration meeting with Magenta Automobiles at 6 p.m. I have added all the details in the report and you may review them."

I then asked him to take my leave. But he asked me, "Where do you think you are going Ms. Sara? Let me first check the report until then you can't leave the office." The waiting and his gazing when he read all the information made me nervous.

I was feeling really hungry suddenly but I just sit there until he finishes the review as he can see me through his office very clearly. My office is just a glass wall that separates from his office with two entrances. The wall has a glass door and the blind jet but I can't seem to find the remote control.

Around 5:40 he asked me to come in and said, "Well done Mrs. Sara, The report is quite well written but you need to still make some changes here and there." I nodded and replied, "Thank you Mr. Azriel. I will try to do my best and improve the report too."

He smiled at me like in the morning and asked, "Well, I have a meeting at 6 right, so would you like to accompany me as my personal secretary?" and I was completely in shock....
