The CEO was sitting on his chair. He seemed to be in his 50s around my dad's age with a white beard and well dressed in the fine grey colour suit. He stood up when he saw us coming.
He said, "So, these are the new people who will be joining us. Looks like this year is going to be a nice one with young and energetic staff members. Why don't you have a seat?"
He came and sat at the modern sofa and asked us to seat too facing him.
The CEO then said," As u all know , my name is Ronald Green Martin, the CEO of this Company. And I would like to congratulate all of u for being a part of our company."
We all said together," Thank you sir!"
He laughed a little and went back to working on his laptop. then we discussed about our designations and some rules and responsibilities regarding the company from a lady from HR department. Soon the meeting was over and a beautiful lady entered the room. She seemed to be the previous receptionist for the strategy department as she was in her 40s. She asked for the CEO's permission and took Katherine with her to introduce her work place.
And Shyna went with the General Manager to roam around the office as she is the Office Assistant.
Then it was just me, the CEO , his secretary and The MD.
The CEO then spoke to me, "Sara, I heard from Azriel that you gave your interview with full confidence. Hope you stay cheerful and confident throughout this year. Now you can go with Azriel to see your office."
I replied, "Thank you sir. I will try my best Sir."
I was out with the MD taking slow steps towards his office which was at the 7th floor. We both didn't speak a word until we reached his office. He opened the door and asked me to come in. It was a very big office and well maintained like the CEO. The interior was also very nice and the books were arranged on a spherical shelf which looked so unique.
We were in an awkward silence so I spoke first and said to him," I am sorry if I have been rude yesterday." He looked at me with his eyes all focused on me and said," It's actually my fault so you don't need to be sorry."
His voice was the same only , deep one but this time it was way more polite. I was very anxious but everything went well. I suddenly had the thought about what the CEO said earlier to be cheerful and confident throughout this year. I actually couldn't get what it meant by just this year. I then asked the Audi guy no I mean the MD.
He looked a little serious and replied," Sara it's a good thing you brought up this topic. I was going to talk about it with you. Actually you are here just for a year in the replacement of my old secretary. She is working on the new project in London and that's why we hired you, because I will be shifting to our new branch after a year too. Please don't feel sad, it's all business you know. You will get some extra commission too so don't worry more about it."
He ended his last sentence with a odd smile on his face and I was there still thinking that, ”am I joke to them or what? Is it so easy for them. Just a year and then what shall I do?"
I was full of so many thoughts in my mind trying it to express but why should I even express it to him.
He asked, “Sara...u there? Don't worry you will enjoy all the facilities and after working here u can easily get job in any other MNC."
I was speechless and then I said, “Even though I get to know about it now, I will do my best till the end. And one thing more, can I leave for today now as the work will start day after tomorrow?"
He simply sat on his chair and said, “Sure."
And became busy in his own world. I somehow dragged my feet out of the office and was off to my house.
