Last Hope

Chapter Eleven

They all stood in the room Tucker was sleeping in.  Waiting for orders, from either Tucker or Sabre.

"So what's our next move?" Chy asked "When do we move?"

"We move as soon as we hear the notice, that says the evac shuttle is going to leave soon." Tucker said. "It won't take long to get there."

"Understood," they all said in unison.

They all started to get there weapons around, when they heard static from a radio.

"Attention," a voice said over the public radio. "The first public evacuation shuttle of the day will be leaving in one hour.  All citizens please make your way to the shuttle as soon as possible, the last shuttle of the day will leave at sundown.  Sundown is it at 8:16pm tonight, please plan accordingly.  This has been a public service announcement brought to you by the UNSC."  The voice was then replaced by static.

"I guess that means we should get moving now," Noob said looking toward Junior. "Right?"

Junior nodded back, "I guess."

"Let's get moving," Sabre said picking up his rifle "move out Blue Team."

"No," Tucker said "Move out 5E."

They all looked at him confused.  Tucker slipped on his mask "sorry welcome to Fifth Echelon, guys."

They all looked at one another, they shrugged.  Then they heard footsteps, they all were all in the room.  They lifted their weapons and pointed them at the source.  A young lady peeked around the corner.  She was dressed in civilian clothes, but she held a standard issue sidearm pistol.  "Who are you guys?" she said pointing the weapon at them. 

"We're," Sabre said, pausing to look at Tucker. "We're Fifth Echelon. Who are you?"

"My name is Rose," the girl said lowering her weapon, she looked behind her.

"And this," Rose said motioning to something behind her "is my friend Logan."

A man walked into the room.  He wore full Spartan armor, he looked straight towards Tucker.

"Well," Logan said walking towards Tucker "look who it is."

Everyone looked at the two of them confused.  Logan stretched out his hand towards Tucker. "Nice to see you again," he said.

Tucker moved his hand out of the way, and just straight up hugged Logan. "Nice to see you too, bro," Tucker said.

Everyone exchanged looks, they all looked at Rose. "Why are you here?" Chy asked.

"We lived here in the city before the attack, he had his armor stowed away.  About a month before the attack he started to train me how to use weapons.  To make a long story short, we're survivors and need help getting to the evacuation shuttle."

"We can help you guys get there," Tucker said with his arm around Logan "we need to get there too."

"We should get moving then," Sabre said "before anyone else comes and joins us."

Chy chuckled a little, "let's get off this rock."

They all walked out of the bunker, one after another.  

"Hey Tucker," Sabre said. "You know you have a really bad habit of near death experiences?"

"Yeah I know," Tucker said "That's how I work."

They all kept walking.

"Hey, Thomas," Tucker said leading the way "give us a way-point to the evac point."
