They all got their weapons ready, they were gonna make a break for it. To get out of that hospital and into a more durable building. Some thing like a bunker, or a military base.
"Where are we gonna go?" Clementine asked.
"I know a base we can go to," Tucker said.
"So do I," Sabre said "I lived here once."
"Outstanding," Tucker said "if my place is too far, we can go there."
"Roger that," Sabre said. "You decide where we go, just link up with my helmet if you want my location."
Tucker nodded. "Thomas," he said "give them all a way-point to Bunker 084."
"You got it, chief," Thomas said as his face appeared on everyone's helmet VISIR.
"Chief?" Clementine asked.
"He's joking," Tucker said. "Now everyone get ready, when the next salvo is launched make a break in the correction of the way-point." As he finished his statement a way-point appeared on everyone's compass. "Everyone got that?"
They all winked their lights green. Frost moved up a little closer to the door, so he could get a look at the Phantom. It was right above them, he watched the guns glow to life and warm up.
"Incoming!" He yelled. "Move on my mark."
Three plasma bolts hit the roof, after that it was silent.
"Mark," Frost said.
They all ran out one after the other. They moved as quick as possible, taking cover when they had to. They slowly made their way to the bunker. They had about 300 yards to go, not much distance left. They were spread out, all over a courtyard with almost no cover to hide behind. Only a few cars, walkways, and overhangs. Tucker was by himself closest to the bunker. Sabre, Frost and Doc were with each other behind a car. Chy and Clementine were under a walkway. Junior and Noob were under an overhang. All they needed was a break in fire so they could move, a quick couple round salvo hit Tucker's cover. Chy made a break for it, but there was a grunt on the turret on the side of the Phantom.
Tucker noticed it first before the gunner could fire, he ran out of cover and tackled Chy to the ground behind a tiny piece of cover. The shots from the turret missed them both.
"Thanks," Chy said.
"No problem," Tucker said "Noob! Snipe that gunner."
Noob whipped out his rifle, taking no time to line up his shot. A clean shot right through the head. The bullet pierced the grunt's methane tank. Sending the grunt flying through the air, and exploding seconds later.
"Nice shot," Tucker said. "Alright guys, when the next salvo hits move."
Noob said nothing, he and everyone else stayed quite. The next three plasma bolts hit the ground, everyone moved, everyone sprinted at full speed. Tucker moved the fastest, and Sabre moved the slowest he was still recovering from his plasma burns. Tucker had an advantage being part Spartan. He could move at an increased speed, and his wounds healed faster. They moved one by one, all over. They still didn't move in a group, to make sure they didn't want to get all hurt at once.
"Another shot," Tucker yelled "incoming. Get to cover."
They did as they were told, except for Tucker he kept moving keeping the Phantom's attention. Until it opened fire, Tucker slide behind cover just in time. All the rounds missed.
"Close call , sir," Thomas said into the radio "next time take your own advice."
"Noted," Tucker said with an irritated tone.
