~~~flashback~~~
"Take this." Vibe handed you a small black device.
"What is it?" You studied the object in your hands cautiously turning it.
"It's a sonic scream similar to that of Black Canary."
"What is it for?" You clasped the band attached behind your neck. "I don't want to use it if I don't have to."
"I've seen something coming. You're going to use it." Vibe shifted stiffly before nodding and opening a portal. In an instant he was gone, leaving you alone on a roof in Gotham. What could be so awful that he felt the need to step in? What could make you revert to such a destructive weapon?
~~~End of flasback~~~

A shaky breath escaped your lips as you secured the straps to your uniform. Your escrima sticks were holstered tightly against your back, and your hair was braided against the back of your head. You could feel the tension of the boys in the cave. "You need to leave," Damian insisted. "It's not safe for you here."

"It's the League of Assassins. I'm not safe anywhere." You argued. "If your mother wants my life, she will have it. I'm safer with you."

"If you're going to stay, take this." Damian handed his favorite katana to you.

"But Mr. Wayne's rule," You mumbled, refusing to take the blade.

"I don't care about his rule. I'd rather you be alive than anyone else." Damian secured the weapon to your side, not giving you the opportunity to protest.

"Be careful." You pulled your boyfriend close to you. Damian wrapped his arms around you, and you could tell he didn't want to let go. Neither of you did.

"You too," Damian whispered, planting a gentle kiss on the top of your head. "Y/n, my mother is ruthless. My grandfather is even more determined. If I don't make it—"

"Don't talk like that." You interrupted. "You'll make it."

"Please, Y/n, if I don't make it, please live your life. I don't want you to spend the rest of your life alone and miserable. That would kill me more than anything that my mother or grandfather could do to me." You couldn't meet Damian's eyes, until he guided your chin with his hands. His gorgeous blue eyes held back tears, and you nodded slowly. The bat cave was deafeningly silent. No one wanted to interrupt what might be yours and Damian's last moment.

You could hear the clashing of weapons going off all around you. The sounds of metal hitting metal rang in your ears as Mr. Wayne shouted instructions into the ear piece. You and Damian stood back to back, protecting each other from the army around you. The both of you had long since ditched your normal weapons and had drawn your blades. Jason had brought his old guns, the ones that killed. Tim stuck to his staff out of habit, but his job wasn't any easier, he was taking lethal shots to the heads and necks of the assassins.

"We can't do this forever Robin," you panted, blocking another attack from hitting Damian's side. "We need backup."

"You know it's not coming." Damian landed a kick to the face of another opponent. You couldn't help but wonder if these assassins were only attacking because they were ordered to. Would they have attacked had Talia not requested? You shook your head. Getting distracted in a fight like this would only get you killed. You heard a grunt and saw Damian pressing his gloved hand to his side. Blood seeped out of the wound. Your eyes widened, and you swung the blade out in an arch, forcing others away from you.

"Robin!" You called out, turning to help him sit down. The enemy closed in around you, and you lashed out, swiping the blade across the closest member. You held your breath as the assassin removed her mask to reveal Damian's mother. Her cheek bled slightly from the cut you had made. "Stay away from him!" You leaped in front of Damian, stopping her from reaching him.

"Use his name, sweetheart. You don't want the last thing you call him to be that silly nickname Bruce gave him." Talia's tone towards you was laced with venom. You couldn't defeat her; you would need help, but help wasn't coming.

"So you're the young lady my grandson has become so obsessed with," a man spoke this time. the crowd of assassins parted, revealing Ra's al Ghul. You swallowed nervously, and held your blade in a defensive position. Damian grabbed your cloak, bringing your attention to him. Blood pooled on the ground, and he was swaying as though he was dizzy. He was losing too much blood.

"Your son is dying," you addressed Talia. "Let us go, and I can get him to a hospital. He can still survive."

"He knew the consequences of his actions." She scowled in a way that could only remind you of when you first met Damian. You held back your tears. There was nothing you could do against them.

"Why are you doing this? You've ruined so many lives tonight. What happened to your humanity?" You were on the verge of crying. All you wanted to do was go back to the manor and hide in Damian's arms.

"Don't question us you foolish girl." Talia hissed. You could hear shuffling behind you, but you couldn't take your eyes off the two in front of you for fear they would attack when your back was turned. Suddenly you could hear a grunt and a thud. Damian fell to your feet somehow bleeding more than he was before. A bloody knife was in his hand and a deep gash was present on his front.

"Damian!" Your knees grew weak as you stared in horror. Had he taken that knife for you? For a moment you forgot that Talia and Ra's were there and you threw your back to them, rushing to stop the bleeding from Damian's stomach. You could see him fighting to keep his eyes open. "Stay with me! You b*tch!" You shouted at the crowd around you, hoping to catch who had stabbed the love of your life. A clatter behind you had you whirling around another time. This time Jason was behind you, blocking Talia's blade from striking you.

"Y/n, please," Damian coughed and blood spurted from his lips. Tears streamed down your cheeks as his breathing became more labored.

"Please don't go," your voice was barely above a whisper.

"Don't worry, I'll still be protecting you." Damian forced a smile as you pealed off his mask.

"I didn't want you to protect me. I wanted you to live." You pressed your forehead to his as he struggled to lift his hand to your face.

"I'm getting tired." You looked up in horror. How could he give up? "Will you please sing to me one last time Beloved." You shook your head violently. "Please Y/n. Please let me hear you." You removed your mask and kissed him, ignoring the metallic taste of blood on his lips.

"I'm so in love with you, and I hope you know. Darling, your love is more than worth its weight in gold. We've come so far, my dear, look how we've grown, and I wanna stay with you until we're grey and old. Just say you won't let go. Just say you won't let go. I wanna live with you even when we're ghosts 'cause you were always there for me when I needed you most." You choked out the fraction of the song as you sobbed. Damian stopped breathing and began to grow cold. You slipped your hand up to the sonic scream device and turned it on. "You killed your own son." You couldn't look up to even face Talia and protect yourself.

"His weakness killed him. He didn't have to take that blade for you. What a disappointment," Talia scoffed. "Stop protecting this girl Red Hood. It's her turn." Jason backed up to be closer to you. "Don't tell me two of you are going to die for her tonight."

"If I'm going down, you're going down with me!"
