~~~Your point of view~~~
You had been sleeping when you were startled awake by a shout. Adrien! You bolted out of bed and ran to his room. You burst in, not bothering to knock. He was sitting up in bed, clearly disheveled. "Are you okay?" You slowly approached the bed, and he nodded tiredly with his head in his hands. "Want to talk about it?" He pursed his lips.
"We were back in the hospital, except you were being tortured. Joker broke his deal, and you were strapped to a bed, and I was forced to watch. I couldn't do anything," Adrien panted heavily. You pulled him into a hug despite the fact that he was all sweaty.
"I'm here. We're both ok," you told him, letting him take in the fact that you were really there. "Here." You took his hand and pressed his fingertips against the spot on your wrist where he could feel your pulse. He stared at your hand for a while before letting go. "Do you think you can go back to sleep?" You checked his alarm clock to find it was just past two in the morning. Adrien shook his head and ruffled his hair. "Put on a shirt, wash your face, and come out to the living room." You left his room and grabbed your phone before heading to the living room. Adrien came out after a minute in a white t-shirt and the blue shorts he had been sleeping in.
"What are we doing?" He groaned tiredly.
"You need to get your mind off your nightmare," you explained, turning your phone on. It along with the city lights were the only source of light in his dark apartment. You selected the backing that you and Adrien had made for your tour in spring. The song began to play and Adrien immediately remembered it. You set up his hands while you started singing. "Here's to the ones that we got."
"Cheers to the wish you were here but you're not," Adrien followed your lead as you taught him how to dance. He watched his feet to memorize the steps of the slow dance.
"'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories of everything we've been through."
"Toast to the ones here today," you winced as Adrien stumbled and stepped on your feet.
"Toast to the ones that we lost on the way." Adrien looked up at you sheepishly.
"'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories, and the memories bring back, memories bring back you."
"There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain," you tried not to laugh as Adrien followed your footsteps, slowly learning the repetitive moves.
"When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same."
"Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name." you guided Adrien's arm up to spin you.
"'Cause I can't reach out to call you, but I know I will some day, yeah." Adrien smiled as you spun before repositioning yourself with your hand on his shoulder.
"Everybody hurts sometimes."
"Everybody hurts someday."
"But everything gon' be alright. Go and raise a glass and say 'Here's to the ones that we got. Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not 'cause the drinks bring back all the memories of everything we've been through. Toast to the ones here today; toast to the ones that we lost on the way 'cause the drinks bring back all the memories and the memories bring back, memories bring back you.'" Adrien was finally getting the hang of dancing and was starting to look up from his feet every few seconds. You had to admit he was a quick study.
"Doo doo, doo doo doo doo."
"Doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo."
"Doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo. Memories bring back, memories bring back you." You and Adrien sang and practiced dancing at the odd hour in the morning. He was going to have to learn for the tour anyway. Might as well get it done.
"There's a time that I remember when I never felt so lost."
"When I felt all of the hatred was too powerful to stop."
"Now my heart feel like an ember and it's lighting up the dark."
"I'll carry these torches for ya—."
"—that you know I'll never drop, yeah."
"Everybody hurts sometimes." You let Adrien take the lead and you followed him as he led you in circles across the wooden floors of his apartment.
"Everybody hurts someday."
"But everything gon' be alright. Go and raise a glass and say, 'Here's to the ones that we got. Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not 'cause the drinks bring back all the memories of everything we've been through. Toast to the ones here today; toast to the ones that we lost on the way 'cause the drinks bring back all the memories, and the memories bring back, memories bring back you.'"
"Doo doo, doo doo doo doo."
"Doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo."
"Doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo. Memories bring back, memories bring back you."
"Here's to the ones that we got."
"Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not."
"'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories, and the memories bring back, memories bring back you." The two of you finished the dance, and Adrien smiled.
"Thanks," Adrien scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Sorry for stepping on you so much."
"Don't worry about it. Same thing happened when Dick taught me to dance," you laughed. "Do you think you can go back to sleep now?" Adrien nodded.~~~Adrien's point of view~~~
I watched as (Y/n) took her phone and headed back to the guest room. I internally groaned as I tried not to follow her. She was so perfect. How could I not have good dreams after just dancing with her in my kitchen at two in the morning? I headed back to my room and flopped onto my bed. I stared at the city lights that glittered in the night. My heat pounded happily in my chest as I tried to get it to settle down. "She's not yours Adrien. She never will be."
