~~~Your point of view~~~
"Sure, I guess I'll go shopping with you later," you shrugged, facing your friend. "Why are we going though?""To get Valentine's Day outfits of course!" She smiled happily. You didn't know how to tell her you wouldn't be needing one. "Your anniversary is tomorrow! We need to get you something nice to wear."
"Sure thing! Let me just tell the boys I'm not going home with them," You texted the boys who gave you the thumbs up. "Alright, let's go after school."
The school day came to an end rather quickly and you and Kate were heading to a boutique that Kate had settled on. The interior was nice with white walls, white marble floors and gold accents. Gold colored clothes racks and hangers with dresses sat waiting for you to pick from, but you really didn't feel like choosing anything. "See anything?" Kate was holding a red satin dress for herself and a pair of black heels.
"Do you really need more shoes?" You stared at the glossy stilettos before scanning the racks so you had a plan for what to get.
"Don't avoid the question. Look. I'm not stupid. I know something is going on between you and Damian. You don't have to tell me what, but I would appreciate if you wouldn't lie to me," she sighed.
"I know; I didn't want to lie. I'm sorry." You looked down guiltily.
"Thank you." You looked up and immediately settled your eyes on a powdery blue dress. Kate followed your line of vision and pulled the hanger from the rack. "You'd look great in this no matter who you end up spending Valentine's Day with."
"I don't know." You frowned and gingerly took the dress in your hands.
"Just try it." Kate offered you a smile as she led you to a dressing room with a pair of nude heels in her hands. "I promise you'll like it."
"Alright," you sighed unsurely. You entered the dressing room. After slipping the dress and the shoes on, Kate called you out. She had her eyes closed as you stepped in front of her. When she opened her eyes she gasped excitedly. She had changed into a red satin dress fitted around her top and waist with a thigh slit. It looked absolutely gorgeous on her. Jackson would be knocked off his feet. It was the kind of look that Kate insisted you could pull off, but you didn't have the guts to try out of fear that it would actually look awful on you.
"You're like a modern-day princess," she held your hands in hers. You couldn't help but chuckle to yourself because she was truly the modern-day princess. "I'm serious." She looked in your eyes and you were forced to believe her. "Come see." She showed you to the three-panel mirror where when you finally looked up you couldn't find a single word to say. The dress fit you like a glove, and you couldn't help but feel sad that you had no one else who would appreciate it. Tim said that you two used to love each other, but now when you looked at the youngest Wayne, you could only feel empty and irritated. You couldn't seem to recollect any of what should have been happy memories. You could feel tears well up in your eyes and your face burned as you tried not to cry. "Hey, it's okay." Kate pulled you into a hug. "Damian will love it no matter what's going on between you two." You returned the hug as a few tears slipped out.
"Thanks, Kate," you mumbled scratchily.
~~~Tim's point of view~~~
My phone pinged, causing me to check it. Kate sent me a picture of her and (Y/n) in nice dresses in front of a mirror. They seemed happy, but I could tell (Y/n) had been crying. My photo printer stopped running and I went to check it. I had been printing photographs of (Y/n) and Damian for years since they became friends and putting them in photo albums, but hopefully, they would come in handy sooner. I let the photos sit for a few minutes before placing them all in a box with fishing line, scissors, tape, and a sharpie. Dick and Jason were coming over in a few minutes to help me because as much as I wanted Damian and (Y/n) to be together, they wanted it more. Damian had gotten less controlled and more violent on patrol, and (Y/n) had gotten more irritable with anyone, even Jason. With Valentine's Day tomorrow, I could have been doing anything else (like getting a date), but my family was in a crisis. It always seemed to be. I began writing on the back of each photo, describing the moment before taping the photo to the string and tying it on a tree branch. I looked around me at the empty branches before staring back at the various photos in the box. "This is going to take a while."
