~~~Your point of view~~~
"You should reject it," Adrien peered at the email from over your shoulder as you sat on the sofa. You had been invited along with him to perform at the Spring Festival.
"Why? Wouldn't it be a good thing for us to perform?" You contemplated what you were doing on the first day of spring.
"It would be good, but you should still say no. I'm not going to perform." Adrien shrugged.
"It's my first year I'd even be attending. Wouldn't it spike publicity and make more people come?"
"Exactly, it's your first year attending the festival. You'll get the best experience by attending as a normal citizen of Metropolis. As for publicity, the festival is the most popular event in Metropolis. Besides, if you aren't already performing, you can qualify to be nominated as Primrose Princess." Adrien winked at you and you shook your head with a laugh.
"Primrose princess?" You asked, hoping he'd explain.
"It's basically a title. The people nominated by the city will be selected as the Garden Court, but the girl with the most votes will be crowned Primrose Princess. All the applicants get to dress up and just have an overall great time."
"So it's a popularity contest?" Adrien hesitated in a joking manner. You could tell he really wanted you to be able to become the princess.
"It is," he admitted. He had a goofy looking smile plastered to his face, the kind of smile he normally had when he had done something sneaky or stupid.
"Wouldn't it be unfair for me to participate?" You shut your laptop with a sigh. You looked at Adrien who continued to stare at you with his stupid, charming smile. "You already voted for me didn't you?"
"I did indeed M'lady," he teased. You grabbed his chin and forced him to look down at you. He sucked in his breath as the two of you made eye contact.
"You're unbelievable. You know that right?" You released him and gave him a smug smirk. Adrien glared playfully at you and you stuck out your tongue.
It was a week before the festival, and you were sitting at a table with Adrien and your friends. Scarlett was going on about what dress you'd wear if you were crowned as Primrose Princess and Addison was listening with a smile. Charlie was settled into James arms as he and Adrien laughed over how Scarlett was even more excited than you were. "You're going to look incredible!" Scarlett cheered gleefully before things took a turn for the worse.
"What do you mean I'm not in first place?" You turned to another table to see Jenny, Adrien's ex, throwing a fit. Her blonde hair was curled and tied back gracefully. If it weren't for her attitude you could have actually mistaken her for royalty.
"They did more counts yesterday. You're not in first place this year." A shy looking girl with black hair stood in front of Jenny who was not giving her an easy time.
"What's happening over there?" You asked, drawing the attention of the rest of the group to the two girls.
"Jenny has won Primrose Princess since she became popular her first year of high school. She was a cheerleader so she had the pep squad and football players votes, and she's pretty popular on social media so she has a bunch of votes there. The difference this year is that you're a citizen of Metropolis now. You're taking her votes." James explained with a smug smirk. Charlie nodded in agreement. You watched as the black haired girl shuffled off towards her friends. Jenny strutted towards your table with her cheerleader friends behind her.
"You have some nerve!" Jenny grabbed you by the collar, but you didn't fight back. You weren't sure why. Maybe it was just instinct after putting up with Mb/n for so long.
