My head lowered, my eyes fluttering shut slowly as the aeroplanes passed through the glass windows of the airport.
Miss Adelaine was teaching etiquette through our walk towards the entrance of the plane.
I silently nodded my head, obediently following orders with my eyes unfocused.
My lips were turned down slightly, not having enough energy to force a smile on my face. I glanced at the area around me, but I couldn't hear properly. Everything seems to be a blur, I felt...empty.
Miss Adelaine and the rest of the security team led us to the waiting lounge, a buffet was prepared.
"Lady Jennie, shall we eat dinner? I'm afraid that the next flight would take some time. I've heard a problem occurred in Japan..." Miss Adelaine whispered in my ear, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.
I raised my head, nodding my head subtly before I bowed at my teacher.
"We shall have dinner to fill our stomachs, Miss Adelaine. I believe that we shall spend our time eating while you point out if I had forgotten my table manners..." I turned my heel and head towards the table while the maids prepared my meal.
I sat straight, placed a napkin on my lap and patiently waited. The place was quiet, soft clinks of utensils were heard as well as whispers from the staff.
They gave me a practised smile that was being forced to look natural, they are just probably doing their jobs but I dislike how unreal it is.
I lowered my head, gazing at my hands while my mind drifted back when we have a pizza party. Everyone wore real smiles on their lips, loud laughter echoing around the room.
It was full of life compared to this...quiet scenery.
A dull quiet room between a master and her servants unlike the loud room with friends. It has big differences in my life and I couldn't go back to my escaped life as I promised.
I want them to be safe and healthy, and I'm happy already if they are feeling that way.
I'll heal... someday.
Maybe...even fall in love with my future husband although I couldn't forget my first love.
He'll always have a special place in my heart. Kim Taehyung...
My mind went back to reality when the plates were placed in front of me. Expensive and exclusive meals were showcased, I bowed respectfully before I picked up the fork and the knife.
I forced my body to live the way I did before, I couldn't use my bare hands nor eat cheap greasy food that they ate.
My hands still remembering the table etiquette, I was relieved that Miss Adelaine has to stop eating her meal just to point out my mistake in table manners.
She deserves to eat well too...
I lowered my utensil, dabbing the side of my lips with the tissue and called the maids to take the plates away. They scurried and did as they told.
My lips letting out a low sigh, my gaze fixed on the table. My thoughts were all over the place, I couldn't focus.
The sound of the chair screeched, I saw Miss Adelaine sit beside me, a phone on her ear. "Yes, Mr Kim. Lady Jennie is sitting beside me. Thank you for accepting my call even though it was sudden..."
Ah, she's in line with father. He's probably checking up on me to make sure that I wouldn't run away again.
Pathetic...
Why would I break a promise when my friends' lives are in the line?
"Lady Jennie, Mr Kim would like to talk to you..." she gave me a subtle wink, a small smile on her thin pink lips. I gave her the look of confusion, my eyebrows furrowed as I slowly brought the phone next to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Jennie..." his deep voice rang through my ear, a shiver ran through my spine as I heard his deep voice again.
"I-I'll find you. We'll find you... We'll look all around the world to find you, just trust us, okay? We'll set you free again—" Taehyung breathed out but I only let out a sigh, covering my mouth and closed my eyes tightly before I spoke again.
"Mr Kim, as I told you..." my eyes glancing around the room where the staffs were looking in a different direction, following the protocol to never listen to a master's affairs.
They probably think that I'm speaking to my father, I must hurry before they realize it.
I bit my lower lip before I continued. "I will do my part for my friends not to get hurt, I won't meet them to protect them. Make sure to deliver my message that they s-shouldn't find me or even try to. I don't want them to get hurt...This is my conditions, a-appa."
I hung up the call and immediately gave the phone to Miss Adelaine before I abruptly stood up. "I'll head to the cubicles. Don't worry, I won't attempt to leave. I know what's at risk if I tried to..." after that, I strode to comfortable rooms.
I went inside the cubicle, my mouth holding out a sob from my trembling lips. That is it, I finally told them my final goodbyes and made sure that they wouldn't do anything reckless.
My eyes stung with tears, streaming down my cheeks as I sat on the covered bowl, crying my eyes silently to muffle the sounds.
I did the right thing...
I-I did the correct choice.
"For their safety from my fathers' hands. They'll be safe..." I breathed out, convincing myself that everything will be alright.
I just need to be strong, I need to be brave.
I can do this...
I managed to escape the mansion, I could be brave for leaving them as part of my precious history.
I heard a knock on the door. "Lady Jennie, we need to depart." I quickly wiped the tears off my face and went out to make eye contact with Miss Adelaine.
"Lord Kim announced earlier that the security will be more secured when we reach Japan, young heiress..."
I gave her a curt nod and walked towards the departure entrance, never looking back with my back straightened.
To my first friends...
This is our final goodbye.
