The Perfect Fit.

I stood on the mini stage in front of a vanity that reflected my whole body. My waist tightened by a corset as layers of clothes were worn.

I pursed my lips when the maids pulled on the ribbon tight, making my waist smaller than it is. It was uncomfortable than the modernized clothing but my father insisted that we should follow tradition.

My lips curved up in a fake smile as the maids and seamstress gushed about the wedding gown that I've worn.

The blonde hair that I had previously turned back to its natural colour, as part of our tradition. I'm back to how I used to be.

I gaze up at the mirror and saw myself in a wedding gown. My soft natural black hair was curled, landing below my breast as small dainty flowers were scattered around my mane.

The white gown filled with pearls, white flowers and a variety of laces embraced the gown. The sleeves were puffed and the neckline was squared, a simple diamond heirloom was dangling around my neck.

White represents innocence and purity.

My mouth parted when they covered me with the veil, a symbol of...obedience.

The maids smiled widely when they gave me the red bouquet, a symbol that means love which is far from the real thing.

My gaze went back to the mirror, not feeling anything that I've dreamt of my wedding.

I used to think that I'll have butterflies in my stomach, not on the dress. Have smiles on my lips, not on theirs. And have the love of my life as my husband, not a bank.

This is far from what I wanted it to be, yet we don't have any choice. My life has already been decided, moreover that Song Kang confessed that he...likes me.

All this time, I didn't know. I wasn't able to utter any word until we were called back to the dining room.

"Lady Jennie, what do you think of the dress? Isn't it lovely?" the seamstress gushed, admiring her work as she gazed at me with an excited smile.

I looked away before I asked. "Can we have it black?" I boldly spoke, staring through the seamstress's shocked eyes without looking away.

"P-Pardon, Lady Jennie? Did I hear you right?" she stuttered, adjusting her rectangular glasses.

I let out a sigh, looking away again. "Ah, nothing. You've misheard, continue..."

Ha...

I've almost forgotten, one wrong mistake, their life will be at stake.

Tradition is important for a Kim, more important than their own lives. No matter how different the world currently is, we must stick to tradition even if we have to be forced.

"A-Alright, my lady. The fitting is finished, we'll have the gown finished by the end of the week. Ladies~" she regained her composure and called out her helpers in helping me taking off the tight gown.

My chest let out a huff in relief when I wore my simple dress. I am currently alone in the room, they left earlier after packing up their belongings.

I stood up from the platform and opened the oak doors, walking out from the waiting room to be welcomed by the subtle sunlight.

Birds were chirping and flying in the Japan skies. My gaze shifted, my feet guiding me back to my room with my head low.
