Azriel POV

He was shocked and judging by his friends expressions they were shocked as well. Celaena was a firebringer, and a powerful one, apparently. But how was that possible, she was entirely human based on what they could all see and smell. Her looks were human, her scent was human, so how could her being a firebringer be possible. He could see in Celaena's eyes that she was scared, he hadn't seen her betray an emotion like that before and he didn't like it. He was going to give Eris a little talk about how to keep his mouth shut. Because Azriel knew that Celaena being a firebringer would have revealed itself later on anyway, when Celaena decided that she could fully trust them.

He realized he had been trapped in his own thoughts when someone finally said something, and it was Cassian who asked "How can a human be a powerful firebringer. Firebringers are supposed to be rare and I have never heard of one being human. Granted I have never even heard of a human with magic."

Celaena POV

After what Cassian had said she decided that it was time to reveal that she was, in fact, not entirely human. So she looked them all in the eye and said "Well, that's because I'm not entirely human." and Azriel, sweet Azriel asked her "Then what are you?" and for the dramatics of it she tried to shift into her fae form, but it did not work. The last time she had shifted, when she had jumped into that portal after Chaol, adrenalin had been coursing through her blood, and there had been no other way out. Whilst now she could not find even a flicker of her magic so instead of being dramatic she had to simply do the dull thing to do, and that was just saying straight out to them "I'm demi-fae"

There were a few confused looks directed at her and Feyre asked "So you're half-human and half-fae." Celaena had thought that a term like demi-fae was pretty easy to understand, but apparently not. Of course she assumed they just wanted to clarify with her because if that wasn't the case she was going to be genuinely worried. "Yes I am, I have two forms. A fae form, and a human form. I do not know how to shift into my fae form because it has been a long time since I knew how to control it, and in a way I am relieved that I don't know how anymore because I have never been able to control my magic and if I were able to shift my magic would most likely spiral out of control and try to burn this place to the ground." Rhysand looked her in the eye and said "Were you not trained when you were younger."  She was unsure whether to tell them more because Eris who she still wanted to throttle was in the room. And apparently Rhysand understood because he signalled to Eris that it was time for him to leave. "I was trained, but never by someone that had the same power as I did or by someone that had the same amount of power as I did, and the people that were training me never teached me how to control it, they only teached me how to suppress it. And then magic just completely vanished and that was that, I guess."

Rhysand POV

Nyx's welcome back party had ended earlier than expected because of what had been revealed. After Celaena had explained herself fully he had decided that even if she had kept that secret from them for a while, she still wasn't an outright threat to his court. He had also decided that he was going to offer Celaena some training lessons in magic and in shifting. If she said yes both him and Feyre were going to train her, considering he was able to shift into beast-form and Feyre had shifting abilities. They were also two of the most powerful magic wielders in all of history in Prythian and Feyre was able to summon fire, it had never been wildfire but it was close enough.

The only thing that Rhysand was worried about was the fact that something told him that because Celaena had come into their lives they would soon have to put them on the line again.

Celaena POV

Celaena had been trying to concentrate on the book she was reading but all she could focus on was the fact that she had a training session tomorrow, a training session in magic.

Feyre and Rhysand had approached her an hour after the party, they had asked her if she was open to them training her in magic and shifting. And she thought that it couldn't hurt, either it would work or it wouldn't and then she would still be as worthless to the world as she was now. But she could at least try, for Nehemia, for those slaves that were still in Endovier and Calaculla and for her friends. At least if she tried, she wouldn't be as much of a coward as she had been as she still was now. And maybe Nehemia and her parents would be proud of her.
