Your eyes widened but you stayed silent.
"You two can follow me inside. There are a few things that need to be done before we can begin."
You and Akaashi walked behind the guide heading over to a building.
"Keiji. Hey. When you said you were taking me out I didn't think this is what you meant."
"Why not? It's called being spontaneous", he said in a teasing manner causing you to remember your conversation with him from all those weeks ago about spontaneity.
"I'm literally so afraid of heights. You could've at least told me so I could prepare."
"Would you have said yes if I did?"
"No..."
"Exactly. Come on. They're trained professionals. Nothing will happen to you."
"Fine, fine. I guess I'll do it."
"Not like you had a choice. Everything is already paid for."
"So what would you have done if I didn't agree?"
"Not much I could've done. You'd just have to go along with it."
"You're such a gentleman."
-
"You look good in a jumpsuit."
"Shut up." You cross your arms and Akaashi wraps one of his around your shoulder.
"Before we get on the plane, I need you both to sign this."
"What is it?", you ask.
"It's a waiver just in case anything goes wrong. Accidents rarely happen here so you shouldn't have to worry. It's just an extra precaution."
You glare at Akaashi. "If something happens to me, I'm killing you."
"Nothing will happen. It's safe. I've done it a couple of times before."
"You promise right?"
"Yeah, I promise."
You took a deep breath and signed the waiver, as did he. The instructor guided you both to the plane. You were afraid to do it alone. Luckily everyone was skydiving in pairs. The workers strapped on all the necessary equipment to your suits holding you and Akaashi together.
"Maybe I should've taken you indoor skydiving first."
"You think?", you ask rhetorically.
You were guided into the planes. It was you, Akaashi, and a few other people. Some of them looked nervous as well, so you were glad you weren't the only one. You took your seats and the plane started to ascend.
You grew more afraid with each passing second. Akaashi noticed this and held one of your hands.
"Your palms are sweaty."
"I'm freaking the fuck out right now. What did you expect?"
"Relax. It's only a 10,000 feet jump."
"Is this your way of making me feel better? Because it's not helping. At all."
"I'm sorry." He stroked your hand with his thumb. "I'll make it up to you", he says, but this time whispering in your ear. You could've sworn you felt your face heat up and your body tensed up even more.
"Stop, not in public", you whisper back, trying to hide the fact that you liked it. However, this did not calm your nerves at all. You were constantly thinking about the fact that you were about to jump out of a moving plane at about 120 miles per hour.
The plane finally reached its peak and the instructor began guiding people out. You watched as each pair jumped out of the plane, falling at a seemingly unnatural speed. Finally, the only pair left was you and Akaashi.
Your instructor directed you over to the end door of the plane where you'd have to jump.
"I'm not feeling up to this anymore."
"You can't back out now."
"I know... Okay, wait. I'm gonna count to three...no five. I'm gonna count to five, and then we jump. Okay?"
Even if it was five seconds, you tried to stall.
"Got it."
"Okay..... one.... two-"
You could barely even make it to two, and suddenly you already feel yourself being pulled out of the plane, falling really quickly to the ground. This caused you to let out a yelp while Akaashi shouted in excitement.
"Why the hell did you do that?! I wasn't done counting!"
You look down and see how high up you are.
"Shit!"
You shut your eyes tightly and held your breath hoping that the falling would be over soon.
"What are you doing?! Open your eyes!"
You guys were talking pretty loudly because of all the noise at the beginning of the fall.
"Y/n, I swear if you don't, I'll unhook you and let you fall!"
"You wouldn't dare!"
You open your eyes and look around. Despite your fear of heights, it was beautiful this high up.
"Oh wow. It's beautiful up here."
"See? I told you. You were afraid for nothing."
You continued free-falling in silence for about a minute, taking in the view and feeling the breeze hit your skin.
"We're getting close to the ground. Open the parachute."
...
"Keiji, open the parachute."
"I'm trying. But I think it's stuck."
"It's stuck?! The hell you mean stuck?!"
"What else do you think?"
"Lemme see that. I'm not dying today because of you!"
After constant pulling and tugging, you finally manage to fix the problem and open up the parachute. The landing was gentle. Akaashi landed on his feet. As it was your first time and you had no idea what you were doing, upon landing you stumbled and fell back, causing Akaashi to fall with you. Luckily the field was grassy.
You two were still hooked together, so when you fell, your back landed on his chest.
"I kinda wanna do that again", you say.
-
"That was fun. Minus that fact that my ears are still clogged."
"You were terrified."
"So? I still had fun. You need to bring me back here one day."
"Whenever you want, just let me know."
"Are we going back now?"
"Are you serious? It's still early. We have time to kill."
"Wow, you really had this all planned out. So what's next on the list?"
"Come on. I'll show you."
You get back into the car and Akaashi starts driving.
"Another trip?", you ask.
"We'll get there in about ten minutes."
-
"Keep your eyes closed."
"They are closed."
"Okay, now a little further... Open them."
"An arcade?!"
