"Do you know how hard it was to make him understand that this world is not a dream?" Sapnap's angry voice rumbled through Director Philza's office. Philza sat at his large desk, which was piled high with thousands of documents. With two fingers, he gently pinched the bridge of his nose, a slight sigh escaping his lips.
Sapnap stood across from the desk, his arms held in the air. Quackity had resolved to be no part of this heated debate. Instead, he was lounging on a leather sofa against the wall across from them, watching them as he gnawed on his cuticles. Above the sofa hung a large family portrait of Philza, Technoblade, Wilbur, and Tommy.
"He is not ready to participate in our normal everyday life right away," Sapnap added more calmly. Today was the last day of their "suspension" and tomorrow they would be allowed to return to normal classes. Since Karl couldn't be locked up in his room forever without it becoming conspicuous, Phil now demanded to treat him like a normal student.
"Yesterday alone he had two breakdowns," Quackity commented. Philza and Sapnap ignored him.
"Listen," Philza looked directly at Sapnap, "you know about his true origin. That obliges you to take care of him, apart from the fact that he is here because of you two. I want you to integrate him into the class and treat him like a student until we find a solution."Sapnap stepped from one foot to the other.
"You mean until the angels get wind of it and kill him," he brought out through gritted teeth.
Shit, I forgot about these people, Quackity thought. Philza and Quackity tensed at the word at the same time. The Angels, also called saints or gods, were a group of highly intelligent and highly technologized people who had taken over the rule of this planet. There were many uprisings between the two species over time. Even though the species to which Quackity, Sapnap, and everyone else at the academy belonged were now independent, the angels still controlled them. Of course, the angels had left a very creative name for them. They were called demon children.
When Quackity heard the tension in the room almost screaming, he decided that enough was enough. Sapnap took his worries out on the director, who himself had no idea what they should do now. Quackity got up from his seat and turned to Sapnap. One hand rested on the shoulder of the taller one, who looked at his roommate and friend while the tips of his hair were slightly glowing.
"Let's go," said Quackity. Sapnap knew himself that this discussion was useless. No one knew how to bring Karl back, and as long as they were in charge of him, they could only hope that the angels wouldn't notice. Sapnap, who was glaring at him at first, finally dropped his shoulders and turned to the door with Quackity.
"Wait.", Philza froze them both in their tracks.
"I want you both to know that we care about Karl and that I and the other professors are doing everything we can to bring him back to his universe in one piece."
The words calmed the boys only a little, but nevertheless, they thanked the director and left the office. In the hallway, the mood shifted noticeably. Sapnap itched his arms and Quackity felt his stomach turn. The thought of an unannounced visit from the angels caused Quackity to feel like fleeing. Why does Sapnap have to say something like that?
"Let's go. Karl wanted to have lunch with us," Quackity ruffled his hair and put on a smile. The two of them had to keep their cool now and take care of Karl. That was more important right now than worrying. Sapnap returned his friend's smile gratefully and the two made their way to the basement of the building.

"What's the last thing you remember?" asked Sapnap. At the same time, he stuffed a load of salad into his mouth. It was remarkable that he didn't spill a bit in his messy way of eating. Karl was not sure if Sapnap didn't notice Quackity staring at him or ignoring him. The boy with the golden wings, which were hidden under his uniform today, was staring greedily at Sapnap and his plate.
