Normally Karl would not have said something like that to Quackity. He didn't use insults.
But If this would be a normal situation, I wouldn't be here in the first place, he thought. Tired, Karl rubbed his eyes and stared at his half-empty plate, the smell of rice with foreign spices filling his nose. He sat across from George and Quackity; breakfast had just begun.
Sapnap sat next to Karl and was talking with George. Quackity was unusually quiet, the bags under his eyes that had been appearing on his face were getting bigger every day. The incident of the two had been several days ago and since then Karl's mental condition had gotten worse. Karl had no idea what was happening to his head or his body in this world. After the classes, he started to get headaches that got worse with every hour until he lay in bed whimpering and holding his head.
So far, it had also happened once that Karl found himself in the hallway in the middle of the night. He couldn't remember how he got there and for a moment he forgot who and where he was. It was only through Sapnap, who came to find him, that he remembered everything. It was a terrible feeling and Karl was now every moment afraid to lose control over his head.
Sapnap looked at Karl who was staring impassively at his food. Quackity, across from him, had also noticed Karl's state of mind.
"Is everything all right with Karl?", Quackity asked in a whisper after a while, leaning cautiously toward Sapnap.
"He's acting weird. I think this world is too much for him? Can you take him to class with you today? Your schedule is more chill and History is canceled for you today anyway, and then I won't have to drag Karl through 4 hours of sword fighting," Sapnap whispered back. Quackity didn't really look thrilled by this statement, but nodded anyway and smiled at his friend.
Sapnap beamed, "Thanks Quackity."
"Hey, Karl is everything okay?" Sapnap gently shook the shoulder of the dreamy Karl. He desperately wanted to tell Sapnap about this feeling that was plaguing him. He felt he was losing himself with every passing second. Everything was still normal, but he could feel something huge and invisible tugging at his soul, wanting to destroy everything in it. Karl was slowly but surely going crazy.
"yes everything is great.", Karl raised his head and smiled.
"Good.", Sapnap said, "I wanted you to go to Quackity's classes today.", Sapnap took the last bite of his sandwich, then handed it to Quackity and stood up, Karl jumped up as well.
"But why!? I would like to go with you. I don't feel comfortable going with him," Karl had a bad feeling about Quackity. Especially because of the incident that he had not told Sapnap, obviously. Sapnap narrowed his eyes. Quackity flinched at the words, barely noticeable, but continued to talk to George about some silly books the two of them were reading.
"Why don't you want to go with Quackity? You're not feeling well today and I don't think a whole day of sports would be good for you. Especially because I'm in the advanced classes," Sapnap explained, stepping closer to Karl and holding his face in his hands.
Karl blushed and looked at Sapnap, who only now realized what he was doing, and jumped back.
"You can do this. I even have something cool planned for tonight. All right? See you later.", Sapnap waved goodbye to Karl and walked through the dining hall.
Karl was now alone with Quackity and George. Sapnap was not here and he felt naked. Like something was missing.
