While Karl was released into the forest, the atmosphere among the angels was anything but relaxed.
"You're sure you want to cross the ocean?" asked George. He faced Dream who nodded determinedly.
"You want to fly directly into your father's arms?", George wondered if the angel across from him was crazy.
"He's not my father!", Dream shot back, his voice filled with venom.Right, George thought and averted his eyes from Dream. After Dream had gotten Karl and George into his hands, although the demon had come along voluntarily, he began to rebel against the other angels. He had stolen an airship with the help of other angels named Purpled, Punz, Corpse, and Sykkuno and disappeared saying that they could all go fuck themselves. The leader of the angels and Dream's father named DreamXD was not very amused about this and demanded his son's head.
DreamXD was, assuming the rumors were true, the last representative of the ancients who had created the angels and demons. He had created Dream in the hope of getting a worldshifter. It was an ability that the Angels had lost with the beginning of the disappearance of the Ancients. But his son had become a normal angel like the rest of the others, and every time he faced his father he was only reminded that he was merely a failed experiment.
"When do we leave?" asked George finally, when he could no longer stand the tense silence in the room. They were in the room that the couple shared. Actually, it was not a room, but rather much more like an apartment. The size didn't improve the fact that George was locked in here day and night and only saw Dream late in the evening. He didn't blame Dream for being locked up here. It was his fault to be trapped here by trying to free Karl shortly after he had witnessed how the boy was treated.
Since then he waited, trying to be as obedient as possible to restore his boyfriend's trust. He hated being bored and lonely every day, but the idea that Karl was being tortured just a few floors below him was much worse and almost drove him crazy. Sometimes he distracted himself by talking to the artificial intelligence in one of the rooms with the big screens. Their name was Slime and it was quite amusing to talk to them.
After a while, it got a bit tiring and the answers didn't always make sense, so George waited at one of the only windows in the apartment.
The window provided a view of a sad courtyard in the middle of the ship. On a piece of lawn stood a medium-sized birch tree with a swing attached to it. It was lonely, for in the time George had been here so far, he had never seen anyone in the courtyard. When he was particularly bored, he imagined little children playing in the courtyard and the lifeless world around him disappearing. He hated the chalky white walls and furniture, he hated the lifeless hallways and cleanliness. How there was never even a speck of dust on the floor.
"I guess I need a few more days to break Karl. Let's say we leave in five days," Dream, who had taken off his facemask by now, grinned. When the demon responded with a nod, he took a step forward to close the distance between them. With two fingers he lifted George's chin and forced him to make eye contact.
"During these days I expect you to help me prepare everything and allow you to run around the ship freely. Can I trust you?" the angel whispered, his gaze probing. George held his breath, his heart beating in his chest. He loved the angel but sometimes he realized how power-hungry his counterpart was. He wanted to use Karl as a tool to overthrow his father. Was this really still Dream standing in front of him? He would have loved to scream at him, grab him by the shoulders and shake him. He wanted his Dream back, the boy before Karl had shown up.
He wanted the broken boy back who loved a demon with powers and all his scars. Who didn't care about anything else except being with George. The demon felt his throat tighten. He thought of the nights they met at the edge of the academy grounds and talked about everything. Sometimes about their worries or their dreams and sometimes, it was just silly stories from their childhood. He wanted back the Dream that had helped him control his powers. No matter how dangerous they could become.
