There had never been a time where Cosette wished she blacked out. She had never done something so embarrassing or awful that she prayed she wouldn't remember it in the morning.
That was still true when she woke up next to Elliot, but the instant guilt that formed in the pit of her stomach when she opened her eyes was enough to make her rethink her decisions from the night prior.
It wasn't even as though she could blame the alcohol for this. She had sex with Elliot because she was confused and angry about George and was in desperate need of a distraction before she drove herself insane.
Granted, her and George technically weren't dating, but that was still an awful way to look at this situation. No, she didn't cheat on him, but it sure fucking felt like she did.
Even though he was still with Lottie.
For whatever fucking reason.
Cosette liked Elliot a lot. As a person, as a friend, but she didn't have any meaningful feelings towards him that made it felt like fireworks were exploding in her stomach. Up until last night, she didn't think he had feelings for her either. He had always been a little flirty and charming, but Cosette wrapped that up to being part of his personality.
The sex was good. It wasn't mindblowing, but they also didn't have a connection. Nothing that pulled them towards each other. To Cosette, it was meaningless and she honestly hoped that Elliot saw it the same way.
She didn't expect the night to have ended the way it had when Elliot bought her a drink. One thing obviously led to another and while she didn't necessarily encourage it, she didn't prevent it from happening either. Cosette didn't have any control over it, it just happened.
His arm was draped over top of her naked waist, but the weight of it was starting to get uncomfortable. Cosette carefully wrapped her fingers around his wrist to lift it up and move it off of her.
She managed to slide out of bed without waking him up and she grabbed the first clothes out of her dresser that she could find. The hoodie and pair of pajama shorts definitely didn't match, but Cosette didn't think it was necessary to look for anything better. She pulled the items on and slowly made her way out of the bedroom.
It felt weird tip-toeing in her own hallway. This was her house and she really didn't need a reason to stay quiet. If anything, she sort of expected Elliot to wake up before she did and try to sneak out, but after only a bit of thought she figured that he probably wasn't the type of guy to do that.
Cosette put the kettle on the stove, heating up some water for a cup of tea she desperately needed. Again, not really hungover but she wanted to feel somewhat tranquil for even just a few minutes before Elliot woke up and would undoubtedly have an awkward conversation with her.
This wasn't at all similar to when she had spent the night with George. Cosette wanted to talk about what happened between them. She basically forced him to talk.
Now? She wasn't even sure what she was supposed to say to Elliot.
Thanks for making me orgasm, let's forget it happened and for the love of god, do not tell a soul.
It wasn't as though her feelings for George magically disappeared because she spent the night with Elliot. It was a lapse in judgement, Cosette wouldn't deny that, but as confused as she was about everything that was going on, she still liked George.
