Cosette sat squished between George and Ginny in a circular booth at the back of the bar. If she was being honest with herself, she wasn't even sure why she agreed to come out after the game ended.
Arriving at the stadium was bad enough. Cosette couldn't stop looking over her shoulder as they walked to the doors. Every blonde girl they walked past made her skin crawl and if it wasn't for George's hand on her back guiding her the entire way up to their seats, she probably would have had another panic attack.
The box itself was secluded, Nick made sure of that. Although it sat 18 people, it was only the six of them who watched the Falcons game from that spot.
"Did you see the way Elliot McCoy shot the bludger all the way across the pitch?" Ron asked the group after finishing his drink. Cosette rolled her eyes, not because he was excited over the game but because the game ended an hour ago and he still wouldn't shut up about it.
Before anyone could respond, their server came back to the table and offered to bring another round. No one said no to refilling their drinks, but the server looked at Cosette who had nothing but a glass of water in front of her.
"Still okay with just water?"
"Yes, thank you," Cosette smiled. She knew better than to get drunk in front of all of her friends right now.
It was part of what she talked about with her therapist.
She had to stop using alcohol as a coping mechanism. She couldn't keep relying on it when things got difficult and lord knew things were more than difficult right now.
Every time someone new walked into the bar Cosette feared the worst, even though she knew it was very unlikely she would ever run into Lottie. Especially at a pub which was most definitely not her scene right now.
She was waiting for George to tell her that if she didn't want to be there, they could leave, but he was in the middle of his own conversation with Harry and Hermione and he was probably happy to be out of the flat for more than an hour for a change.
Plus, Cosette knew that he wanted to get her out of the house too. He wanted to reintroduce her to society and not let her become used to staying in bed all of the time.
"Anyway," Ron started off again, "Elliot McCoy-"
"Bloody hell, Ron, just call him Elliot," Cosette blurted out. He looked alarmed, but not offended that she interrupted him. Cosette glanced at George who was also looking at her and waiting, like everyone else at the table, for an explanation. "You just act as though he's some sort of celebrity. He's just a guy."
"He sort of is a celebrity, Cosette," Ron said and the use of her full name let her know that he wasn't joking in the slightest, "I heard rumors that there were scouts watching today's game."
But Cosette was clueless. She may have watched Fred's games and her brother may be a professional Quidditch player, but that didn't mean she could participate in an actual conversation about the sport. Her confused expression alone was enough for Ron to roll his eyes.
"Scouts, Setty!" He excitedly hit his hand on the table right as the server came back with the tray of drinks. She raised her eyebrows at Ron's actions but said nothing as she handed the drinks around.
Cosette waited until she left to continue on, "Just because you say it again doesn't mean I understand what you're talking about!"
"Scouts!" He looked towards Harry for help, someone who knew the game well enough to understand what he was talking about, but Harry didn't say anything. Everyone was curious to see how Ron would explain it.
