The music blared from the speaker sending vibrations through your body as you danced freely. Usually, you'd do this when you were bored or just stressed- and in this case, you were stressed.

For the past three weeks, your boyfriend Andrew has been acting weird and distant. All of your calls; sent straight to voicemail. All of your text; read and ignored. He'd always come home at 4-5 in the morning, face red, clothes, and hair a mess. You didn't want to jump to conclusions and say he's been unfaithful and cheating on you behind your back.

You wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but damnit it was hard. So much evidence presented itself.

Once the music stops, you drop to the floor in exhaustion. Your chest rises and falls with each breath you take. With everything in you, you stand up and walk to the desk and take a seat on top. You grab your water bottle and towel and cool down until your ears pick up on the sound of music coming from another room. Your eyebrows furrow in confusion.

I could've sworn I was here alone.

You rise from the desk and wipe the remaining sweat off of your face, neck, and arm. You take another sip from the water bottle, the coolness feeling like heaven in your hot and clammy hands.

You put your things down and follow the sound and vibration from the music which led you down to the very end of the hallway. The light was shining on the way letting you know the door was cracked open.

Quietly, not wanting to make your presence known, you creep towards the door and peek through the crack.

Andrew?

Your heart skips a couple of beats as you spot a familiar figure in the room. Even though you thought it was Andrew, you couldn't tell for sure since his back was facing you.

You notice a small, dainty pair of hands wrapped around his neck, as New edition blared through the speakers, sending chills down your spine.

I remember when we first danced to this song....it was on our first date.

You watched as their bodies collided with each other, hands trailing over each other's bodies, eyes glued to one another.

Your heart ached.

But that wasn't what hurt the most. Andrew pulled the petite beauty flush towards him in such a sensual way making your eyes widen. You push the door open but the music was too loud for them to hear any interruptions. Next thing you know, their lips connect in a heated kiss; Your heart completely shattering in your chest.

Tears stream down your face endlessly and you rush to cut the music off, not being able to continue to listen to it. Once the music cut off, they quickly cut loose from each other.

"Yo- y/n?!"

"H-how dare you!?

Andrew gently shoved the female away and comes rushing towards you in hopes of comforting you despite being the culprit.

"Don't come near me!" You yell, taking steps back.

Andrew stops and stares at you with saddened eyes. Yours, on the other hand, were filled with hatred, disgust, embarrassment, and pain.

"How could you do this to me?! Was I not good enough?!" You cried out, coming close to him and poking him in the chest hard.

"I'm so sorry, y/n!" Andrew drops to his knees and cries out, his crocodile tears not phasing you nor convincing you that this unfaithful jackass was serious.

By now you're shaking in anger, "No, you're not," you quickly dismiss his bullshit lie, not believing a word spewing out of his mouth, "I gave you everything and this is how you repay me? By kissing some skank? I went weeks with no information about you; hell your friends didn't know what was going on with you! Only times I'd see you are when you'd come home at 4 or 5 In the morning and by the time I woke up, you were gone again."

You had somewhat calmed down, body no longer shaking with anger. Calmly, you ask him,"How long?"

"How Long what?" He questioned, acting oblivious.

Inhaling sharply you ask him again, lips trembling, "Don't play dumb with me. Now is not the time. How long have you been cheating on me?!"

Andrew looks down in shame,"Three months."

You scoff and nod your head, the pain becoming unbearable, "I see."

You look down at the shiny, chocolate-colored promise ring he gave you on your 20th birthday. Your heart and stomach twisted as you took the ring off your finger. You never thought this was going to happen, but life happens.

"Here, give this to someone who deserves it," you toss the ring to him, "Because it's obviously not me."

You walk away feeling numb and not sparing him another glance. Walking back into your room, you gather your things and shut down the room, no longer able to cry. You were done.

This has happened too many times in all your relationships. Throwing your hood over your head, you leave the building and walk down the dark streets of your neighborhood.

-

"Hey," a soft voice said from behind you, "You know you shouldn't be out this late."

You come to a stop and scoff," Says the one that's out this late."

Your witty comeback didn't phase the man as he steps closer, "Funny but I'm serious. There's been a lot of crime going on in the part of the neighborhood and I don't want anything bad to happen to you."

Amused and confused, you stare at the male before you, "You don't even know me...so why do you care what happens to me?"

"Because I'm not some asshole. I do care about people whether I know them or not."

Guilt washes over you as you hear the sincerity in his voice. Sighing, you apologize, "Sorry for the nasty attitude. I've had a shitty night."

"You wanna talk about it over some drinks?"

You knew it'd idiotic of you to go drinking with a complete stranger but at the moment you didn't care. A drink was well needed.

"Sure..." you trail off, waiting for his name.

"Michael"

"Alright, Michael Let's go. By the way, my name is Y/n."

Michael smiles and waits for you to follow him, "beautiful Name for a beautiful lady."

"Huh?"

Michael smirks and shakes his head, "Nothing."
