chapter song:
[just like] starting over - john lennon
Genevieve looked down at her fidgety hands, anxiously tapping her knuckles at a quickening pace before clearing her throat and glancing back up, meeting Loki's eyes staring intensely at her. It was as if he was telling her to keep her mouth shut about him sneaking on to her floor last night.Nonetheless, she responded, "Yes, it's nice to meet you... Loki."
Loki simply nodded his head in response and turned back to look at Tony. Tony and Thor resumed speaking with one another, probably about the roommate arrangements the two were about to go under, when Genevieve felt a sudden burning pain in the back of her neck. She wrapped her hand around the nape of her neck and rubbed it lightly. The pain vanished just as quickly as it came and she assumed that she had slept wrong the night before; that moving her head a certain way had set it off. Before putting anymore thought into what had just occurred, she heard Thor's loud laugh, scaring her out of her thoughts as she slightly jumped. Thankfully, no one had noticed. Well, Loki had noticed— Genevieve zoning out as soon as her father began speaking and jumping from the shear loudness of Thor's voice— and a lowly chuckle left his lips.
She finally pulled herself out of her own thoughts to catch the ending of what Tony and Thor were saying; Tony stating that, "You two are going to be around each other a lot, considering that you," he pointed at Loki, "aren't allowed to leave the building. And you," he pointed at his daughter, "never leave your floor unless it's absolutely necessary. So please, for the sake of the entire team's well being... get along nicely."
Genevieve nodded in response to her father's words while Loki stood still, not saying anything.
Thor spoke this time, "Loki, the team is going to have weekly check-ins every Wednesday so we can see how you're adjusting to Midgard. So I think that—"
"No," Loki jabbed in, "you're checking up on me to ensure that I stay put and that I don't harm Stark," he corrected while pointing lazily at Genevieve.
"Good job, Reindeer Games, you're just as smart as we all thought you were," Tony replied. "Now come on, let's get moving so we can show you where you'll be living."
