Soo-Young's POV
At the court...
"As we all know, Attorney Choi's evidence in the previous trial was fabricated. Mrs. Ahn had nothing to do with the CEO's death, and I'm sure that clears everything up." Ji-Hoon took the floor first because he wanted to recount what had occurred during the third hearing.
"I admit that the evidence was made up. But now I have my actual evidence." I was acting casually, and I showed the evidence paper to everyone in the court so they could see it.
"Actual evidence?" The judge's brow furrowed and his hands intertwined.
"So, during the trial the other day, my evidence was swapped with the fake ones. It was the same two witnesses I brought the day before." I simply responded and handed the evidence to the judge to read.
"Do you realise Attorney Choi, that this confession of yours can't possibly be true?" The judge questioned me after reading the title on the first page.
"I understand, which is why I'd like to bring a witness with your permission." I smiled while making intentional eye contact with Hye-Rin.
"Bring in your witness." He agreed, clearing his throat, and I'm sure he's excited to see what I've brought this time.
"Your honour, I present Miss Lee Seung-Hyun, who acted as the CEO's wife the other day, as my witness." I quickly rose from my seat and turned to face the people watching the trial.
"This is not acceptable, your honour!" Hye-Rin immediately stood up and slammed her hands on the table, as she had not expected her to appear as a witness.
"I agree, so you may proceed, Attorney Choi." The judge stated, ignoring what Hye-Rin had said.
"So Miss Lee, would you please tell us what happened between you and Mrs Ahn?" I asked her politely while adjusting my pink blouse and tightly gripping the fence.
"The truth is that I work in Hye-Rin's company as one of her employees. She bribed me by asking me to testify for Miss Choi. I didn't want to because I felt bad, but she told me to think of my son, so I did."
"When I first met Attorney Choi, she was interrogating Miss Jang and me as a detective. She was very nice to us, and I felt bad about it. Though I wanted to tell her the truth, but Miss Jang stopped me and eventually threatened me." She spoke up boldly, unconcerned about Yu-Jeong and Hye-Rin, who were staring at her from the other side.
"Do you have proof of that?" The judge inquired, looking at her sideways so she could see her clearly.
"I do, and it's a recording." She responded by taking her phone from her pocket and showing it to everyone.
She handed over her phone to the judge, who connected it to a mini speaker so that everyone in the court could hear the audio...
"Your honour, this recording is of a conversation between Miss Lee and Miss Jang." I said as I motioned for the audio to be played.
Everyone was listening to the conversation, and I was shocked because Yu-Jeong would threaten someone like that. Furthermore, those words were extremely hurtful. I feel sorry for Miss Lee.
"Your honour, allow me to explain." Yu-Jeong, who was sitting in the front row, raised her hand as she stuttered.
"No!" The judge struck his hammer again, forcing Yu-Jeong to remain seated because he did not want her explanation.
