dear you,

life is about quality, not quantity

important people come and go,
and that's okay

your self-love must always be
stronger than
your desire to be loved by others

rejection should not bring about self-rejection

you experienced rejection,
you fear rejection;
you then push or run away
before you can be rejected

you then believe you've avoided rejection
though in reality, you've been rejected once more
— this time by yourself

own your responsibility,
own your future

you're not liable for your trauma,
but you are accountable for breaking the cycle

you will never control your future
if you let your present be controlled by your past

next, don't plunge into a relationship
just so you can tell the world that
you have something

for having your heart broken is deeper
than you'll ever realize
it destroys your outlook on love,
rips your self-esteem to shreds,
tortures your mind,
and damages your soul

though
a relationship should
add to your life
a relationship should not
be your life

don't disregard the red flags
address issues that
could have taken a few days to fix
or hurt a relationship for years

don't be a hopeless romantic
who possesses unrealistic
social media expectations

stop searching for false
social media perfection

social media makes relationships
look perfect
so imperfect real relationships feel disposable
