dear you,

you set your expectations
so high up in the sky
they're barely visible

you breathe down every command
in our throats
that it suffocates us with every breathing moment

you claim you're right
in every one of your wrongdoings
that it's for our best interests

when all you've bred
are liars,
children who have been moulded
to be daunted to speak the truth,
and express themselves

you tell her not to insist that she's right
to be so full of herself
yet you do the same
as she stood weeping
from your reprimands

you forgot she was once a child
whom a mother once dearly treasured too

she is not yours. she is not your belonging.
she does not listen to you.

you claim you're fair in all situations
but you want things executed your way

you forgot males ain't superior anymore
you forgot that in a household, a family
everyone had equal rights

you taught us to question
what's equality?
in the 21st century

you claim you're better than the rest
that we're blessed to have you

but you neglect what we truly need
and assume the best for us, of us

when all we desire is equality and
to be treated like the rest
