THE CURSE THAT FALLS UPON US

Curses can be deciphered in more than one form but bring along the same consequences, misfortune and adversity. The purpose behind it is to enlighten chaos, pain, and severe punishment for a multitude of reasons which can range from breaking a promise, wronging an individual, or simply for the sick thrill of it. Elsa recalled ancient stories that her mother would tell Anna and her of vile beings who utilized malediction for their own agenda. The mere thought of it caused her to shiver, a shuddering breath leaving her lips.

Whatever Hiccup's following words were going to be, she knew they'd seal the severity of this all.

The Royal Guard sighed, everything that had been disclosed from the outside world except for the comfort of Burgess, was about to be laid out on a silver platter. He nodded, "Yes, you heard correctly. A solemn utterance so atrocious that it has entrapped our citizens to tolerate the season of winter, repeatedly. It's a never ending cycle and it doesn't matter who we go to, who we ask, no one has the necessities to break it."

"Some of my citizens have died, innocent people who did absolutely nothing wrong to deserve this. I'm responsible for their well-being and here I am, watching them in agony. Their blood is on my hands." Jack scoffed, "All because of my mistakes? Unbelievable."

His posture and the way his eyes continuously darted to the floor each time he heard something that took a toll on him prompted Elsa to believe that he blamed himself. She wanted to for some unknown reason pull him into a hug and reassure him that this was not his fault. The universe loved to play sick games and they were simply just the pawns, there's nothing he could've done to prevent this.

After all, she resonated with that feeling. On more than one occasion, Arendelle's name and reputation got tainted and all fingers were pointed at her. The look of horror on their faces still flashes in her mind, threatening to suffocate her.

Traitor.
Monster.
Pathetic.
That's all she'll ever be.

Hiccup shared the same sentiment as the Princess, his heart ached for his best friend who became too familiar with the feeling of being alone before he even had the opportunity to experience life for what it was and retelling it now surely opened the wounds that were just recently starting to heal.

Hiccup shifted on his feet, hating the turn of events their life took to land them in this misery, carrying on from where Jack finished his sentence, nonetheless. "The wind gets stronger by each passing second, the temperature is fluctuating at an alarming rate, and it either snows or hails like a shit ton of bricks."

The princess furrowed her eyebrows, about to say something when to her surprise, Jack cleared his throat. "That's not all."

There was more? How could there be more? Wasn't this awful enough? God, she hated this. Her father claimed that he obtained knowledge of everything that occurred in each kingdom and yet, he had no clue about this. She wanted to scoff, King Agnarr wasn't as prominent as he loved to believe.

Hiccup gave Jack a questioning look, "Jack... are you sure?"

The king laughed bitterly, "No hiding anything, right?"

"Pitch made certain that I suffered at the fate of his hands so obviously that son of a bitch put a fucking curse on not just my kingdom, but me as well. My powers go awry, it's like they have a mind of their own. As weird as it sounds, I can feel the darker influence that takes over my mind when my powers spiral out of hand. And because Pitch is a predictable ass, he came up with such a bullshit method of reversing the curse."
