Song for chapter 25 - "Good Grief" by Bastille.

Monday, hours before the previous chapter.

Richie's POV

I didn't feel like getting out of bed today, but I had to, because I actually didn't want to miss school. Jeez, and I call everyone else a nerd.

I didn't know what I'd do if I saw Y/N again, though. He probably hated me now, but at least he didn't say anything about it. I actually expected a slur or something like that. Like that one time when Henry-

I grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge and got some toast, ate it and drove to school. My parents had come home yesterday right after I came back, but they were at work again now.

I finally arrived at school and immediately went to class to avoid encountering social situations for now. Pretty shocking, I know, I'm usually the annoying talkative "Bucky beaver".

It was a class where I had to sit down next to Y/N. Surprisingly, he didn't say anything, he just focused on the lesson and avoided looking at me. When we had to do something in pairs, we just awkwardly sat there, which caused the teacher to yell at us for not paying attention when we were asked to speak. It didn't matter, though. Talking with Y/N right now would have felt worse than a teacher yelling at me.

I looked down at the sheet that the teacher gave us and then the rest of the day passed like a blur.

Now.

Y/N's POV

"Can I at least know when we're moving?" I asked my parents. There was no fight left in me anymore after many times of my parents rudely dismissing me when I said I didn't want to move away.

"Probably in around a month. We're already looking for a house. We will either sell this one or let someone rent it. The packing will take the longest, so I suggest you already start packing everything, but since we aren't moving right away, just leave the important things unpacked for now." My mom told me.

"Alright..." I mumbled and went to watch TV. This will make my situation with Richie even worse. I wanted to talk to him at some point, but now there's no need, because I will just move away soon. It'll be better if I make it easier for him to move on, there's no way I'll convince my parents to stay anymore. They're too stubborn.

Everything's fine. High school crushes usually don't work out anyway, I'll be fine and he'll probably forget about me eventually. That is what I could keep telling myself, at least. I just need to move on. I could tell Alyssa about it, I really want to, but she will probably tell Richie and make another scheme on how to get us together.

I wonder how Beverly and Mike is doing. I haven't made contact with them for quite a long time now, so I don't think there would be any point trying to tell them about it, but they're the ones I can trust the most right now. I think I'll tell them after all.

I turned off the TV and went to ask my dad for a phone. He was less likely to eavesdrop and if he did, this wouldn't be that scandalous. Just me calling my friends to say I'm moving, which does not need a visit to the church later. I went to my room and called Beverly first.

"Hey, haven't spoke to you in a while! It's me, Y/N." I said as soon, as she spoke, because I had to make sure it wasn't her dad. If it was, I would have had to play it off as a telemarketer like that one time.

"Oh, hi, Y/N." Beverly replied in a quiet voice.

"You seem upset, did something happen?" I asked.

"Did something happen??? DID SOMETHING HAPPEN?! Of course something happened! None of my friends were calling me!" Her voice was barely below a shout.

"Couldn't you have visited us?"

"NO! No, I fucking could NOT, because my dad was watching over me like a fucking hawk!"

"I'm sorry, Bev."

"What did you even call me for in the first place? I doubt it's just to talk or something casual, because it's been months." She lowered her voice, but still sounded snappy.

"I...I wanted to tell you that I'm moving away in around a month. You're one of my only friends that's here, so I didn't want you to stay in the dark about it." I hesitantly explained the situation.

"Oh, well, that's great. At least you get to get away from this shithole."

"But I don't want to leave all of you behind!"

"You'll just have to move on. I'll probably move away too, once I'm eighteen." Her voice had gone back to normal now.

I decided to talk to her for a bit, so she didn't feel lonely and after that I told her, that I'm going to call Mike about the news, and make him call her. Then she would have more people to talk to.

"Hey, Mike. It's Y/N." I spoke into the phone. There were no signs of eavesdropping.

"Hey, Y/N! Why haven't you called in so long?I haven't talked to anyone from our friend group lately. It's like we all died or something. Well- maybe that's not something I should joke about, but anyway, how are you?" Mike seemed really enthusiastic.

"I'm calling to say I'm going to move soon. I feel bad that I haven't talked to you for a long time and now I'm dropping this bomb on you, but I had to tell you."

"Oh, that's...um, that's great for...you?" His tone was questioning whether or not I'm happy about this.

"Not really, it was sudden. I don't wanna leave this place and you guys behind." I explained.

"Oh, speaking of 'you guys' maybe we should all meet up? Y'know, to be able to say goodbye to you." Mike shared an idea.

"...sure, why not. I'm busy, though, so I won't be able to plan it."

"I can plan it for you?" He offered.

"Wait, I don't think you know Alyssa. Alright, you can plan it and I'll just tell Alyssa the details."

"Who's Alyssa?" He asked.

"A classmate of mine. She's friends with me and Richie, so it's fine, you can trust her." (Was really tempted to write Alyssa deez nuts even tho that doesn't make any sense😔)

"Aalright then? It's settled."

"Oh, by the way, call Beverly more often, please. She's really upset and I can't call her regularly." I notified Mike about the Bev situation.

"Ok. I'm gonna call you back when I plan the meetup."
