Chapter 7: Out in the Wild

The rustling continues, until a squirrel got out of the bush. It has an acorn in his mouth as it tried to speak.. Once the Squirrel spat out the acorn, it spoke to Nico. "Can you help me nuts or acorns?" Nico was confused, since normally a squirrel would be scared of a cat

"How are you not scared of me?" Asked Nico, the squirrel replied "Well I saw you talking to a mouse, might as well believe you're nice." Nico was confused, even though he's nice to a mice doesn't mean he's nice to other animals too..

As they went to collect nuts and acorns, they came across other animals as well. Such as chipmunks, beavers, a few mice and wild possums as the other animals were collecting food as well. "What's your name" asked Nico to the squirrel. The squirrel replied "Chuck".

"Well Chuck, hope we can meet again" Nico said, Chuck replied "Well not soon, the winter's coming. That's why we're collecting foods".Nico forgot that winter is coming, but since he lived with George, he doesn't have much to worry.

As Nico went back to their campsite, he heard a hiss nearby. He immediately knew it was a snake. He backed off quickly, as the snake almost bit him. "Hey, you made friends with a squirrel, why not make friends with a venomous snake?" Said the snake.

Nico has a few experiences with venomous snakes. Usually, venomous snakes tend to avoid cats, as they are most likely to survive snake venom, but this is the opposite.. "Why am I scared of snakes? Is it because I am smart enough to be scared of snakes? Or is it because it's my instincts?" Nico asked himself.

"Well, what're you waiting for, Nico? My name is Marcus" hissed Marcus. As Marcus charged towards Nico, a honey badger jumped on top of the snake. "L-let me go!!" Hissed Marcus. As the honey badger was about to bite at the snake, Nico interrupted. "Here, have some fruits" the honey badger chuckled, "haha! I was only joking! I've already eaten a snake a while ago"

"The name's Lanna!" Shouted the honey badger. As she let go of the snake, it slithered away. "Well, I can't keep playing around, I should store some food for the winter, you should too. Good luck!" Said the honey badger as it ran away.

Nico didn't know what he's feeling, happy, sad, angry, confused, terrified. But what's important that he's still in one piece.
