I learn that by see you soon, Jungkook actually meant it. Like, really soon.

As I'm leaving the pub after finishing my shift, I notice Jungkook leaning against his bike, parked on the side of the road. He's currently engrossed in his phone, expression bored as he swipes his thumb across the screen, one side of his mouth pulled up and lips protruding.

"What the fuck? Did you just wait here the whole time?"

Jungkook glances up without moving his head. After recognizing that the person addressing him is me, he pockets his phone and crosses his arms over his chest, smirking.

"Ah, finally, she has arrived. And yes, I did wait. Surprise."

"Why would you do that? You've just wasted almost two hours of your life," I laugh, astonished.

"Because I'm a really great friend," he winks, making a clicking noise with his tongue.

"Oh, is that what this is?" I remark sarcastically. "Nothing to do with fucking?"

To my surprise, Jungkook shakes his head and places a hand over his heart. "Nope, cross my heart and hope to die."

I raise a skeptical brow. "Alrighty then. What's up?"

"You want a ride? I assure you I have no ulterior motives."

"I mean yeah, it would be nice. But...why? It's not like you need to," I reply. Part of me wants to believe he's doing this out of the good of his heart but knowing what he's like, I can't help but doubt that he's actually doing this without any particular reason.

"I'm feeling generous today," Jungkook shrugs. He reaches behind him to lift the seat and pull out the spare helmet, holding it out for me with an expectant expression.

I maintain eye contact with him for a few seconds, searching for anything in his eyes that would set off red flags, before taking the headgear with a mumbled thank you. As I put it on, Jungkook slips on his own helmet and mounts his bike. I carefully get on behind him, wrapping my arms around his middle.

"Y'know, I wouldn't mind if this became a regular thing. I enjoy having a free Uber driver at my disposal," I joke.

"Now that you've mentioned it, maybe I should start charging you," he teases back.

The engine comes to life with a loud rumble and I pat Jungkook's stomach before bringing my mouth closer to his ear in order to be heard. "But seriously, I can give you money for, like, gas. It's the least I could do to show my gratitude."

"Don't even worry about it," Jungkook reassures, tilting his head back to glance at me, smirking. "It wouldn't be very gentlemanly of me to demand money from you."

"Oh, so you're a gentleman now?"

"Of course. I'm, like, the exemplar."

"Alright, now you're going too--"

The motorcycle jerks forward before I can finish, cut off by my own gasp.

"Quit doing that!" I chide, smacking Jungkook's shoulder as he snickers, trying to suppress my own laughter.

He tells me to hold on tightly and then begins driving down the street.

The moment is just so...pleasant, so serene. It's a bit warm out tonight but being on the motorcycle and creating our own wind keeps us cool. As I watch everything pass by in a blur, I can't help but notice how warm Jungkook feels. He's not burning like a furnace but calling him lukewarm isn't quite accurate either--it's like there's something...more. Something welcoming or comforting, something I can't quite pinpoint.
