Hassana's point of view.I glance at Afeeya who laughed hardly, wrapping her arms around her tummy. I force a smile, looking at her, acting amused.
"What?" She asks, noticing my look. "Its not funny." I say as she licks her lips. "It's funny! The movie is hilarious. Coke to think of it though, I laugh easily so it makes sense." She leans her head on the palm of her hand.
"Fayadth doesn't have to try then." She shrugs. "He's lucky." She chuckles.
I look back to the TV, replaying how fayadth came out of the room with his lips swollen and how I saw afeeya half naked. Its painful to see the man you love loving someone else and all you can do is stare. The jealousy brewing in me has made me grow angry towards Atreus.
I smile, trying to mask my emotions. I bought a glimpse of their make out, that's why I called Fayadth.
Afeeya adjusts her lying position. "I'll confess to you, I'm excited. I had a photoshoot today and I'll be their face for some time. You might see me on billboards soon."
My loophole.
"Really? That's crazy, I'd like to see it too." She sighs, pouting. "I miss my siblings, unfortunately, they're all boys so they're trying not to act all cheesy to me." I act interested. "All boys? That must be hectic in a way."
"No, not really. Its actually nice, its like having permanent bodyguards that work for free." Afeeya stands up, pulling her baggy shorts. "I wish I had that, I have three female siblings. They're all at home."
Afeeya stretches, touching her toes and twisting her waist. "Really? What are they're names?"
"Sa'ada, Afreen and Fauziyya. 22, 20 and 17." She crosses her arms. "Do they go to anya Sham's house or do you visit them often? I would like to meet them." She stands with her legs spread apart. I sit at the corner of the bed, shaking my feet. "No, they don't visit regularly." I push my body off the bed, standing. "I better go sleep, its late."
Afeeya scoffs. "Come on, its not that late." She walks to the chiffonier, taking her phone. She presses the power button then gasps. "Its 12am and fayadth is still not back." She unlocks her phone, placing her phone on her ear. "You're calling Fayadth?" She nods, waiting for him to answer.
Another wave of jealousy taking a hold of me.
"Hello? You're still not back. I got carried away so I didn't look at the clock. I couldn't believe it's twelve already. You're almost home?" She paces around the carpet, placing a hand on her waist.
"Be safe, we're waiting for you." She halts, chuckling. "If you prefer I say okay, fine. Okay, I'll go to sleep......bye." She drops her hands to her sides. "I'm going to wait till he comes back."
"I wish I could do that but I need to rest." I wave my hand in the air, walking to the door.
"Come on, let's wait till he comes back." I shake my head. "Nope, I'm off to bed." I leave her room, walking to mine. "Fine, good night." She shouts.
I ignore her, entering the room and closing the door. I lean on it, taking a deep breath. Having to be friends with a rival has never been my thing, but I'm desperate.
I lie on the bed, my head hanging from the bed. I'm going to wait till he comes back and I'll welcome him back too.
*******
"Welcome home." I hear Afeeya's voice, I snap my eyes open as I rush to the bathroom, turning on the faucet. I splash water on my face and neck so I can wet my shirt.
I wrap a semi transparent veil around my head, covering my neck and chest partially.
I open the door, hanging my head as I walked to the living room. "Welcome back." I rub my eyes.
"Thank you, Hassana." He replies, I raise my head to see him smiling at me. I smile back then looked at afeeya.
"You woke up?"
"How couldn't I? I heard your loud voice." I joke, gaining a giggle from her.
"Fine, fine." She turns to Fayadth, locking her arms with his. "Okay, today I didn't wait for you because I ate with my sister." Afeeya leads him to the table. I reluctantly walk back into my room.
I take off my veil. That pest. I throw myself on the bed, groaning. I never thought its going to be this painful to go through this.
*******
I turn to my right, sliding my hand under my head. I hear Afeeya's laughter which made me wake up.
Don't tell me they're still talking.
I stand up, opening the door slowly, peeking through the space.
They're not there so they must be in the kitchen. I sneak to the kitchen door, i open a thin space so I could see them.
I sight Afeeya laughing with her mouth covered with her hand while she sat on the chair. "No, that is not fair." She says in a whisper.
Fayadth appears after he stands beside her. "That's life. Nazif tried to show he's someone so I snatched his girlfriend away even though I wasn't interested." Fayadth sips something from a cup. He sets it down before afeeya wipes the corner of his lips. Fayadth looks at her intently while she does it.
"So what did he do to you as vengeance?" She places her elbows on the island. "Nothing, he stopped talking to me for a few weeks then I went through an incident. That was enough."
"What incident?"
"Nothing, just a little crash." Afeeya rolls her eyes. "That is not fair, still."
"What would you have preferred?" Fayadth leans on the island, his arms rests on it as they hold eye contact.
"Maybe he should do the same." She says in a flirtatious tone. "Are you suggesting he takes you away from me?"
She shrugs. "Maybe, I might say yes." He smiles. "You're married to me."
"Still."
He frowns. "I don't share."
"You don't? You shared his girlfriend."
"Let me rephrase. I don't share what I love." Afeeya falls silent. "I don't know what else to say." She admits. "That's a very nice line." She adds, still not shifting her eyes from his.
"Why do you always leave me hanging?" He spats causing her to smirk. I clench my fists, gritting my teeth. "I don't."
"No, you do. You tease me and leave, knowing that I can only be with you."
"Likewise." Fayadth leans in as I turn my head away, heaving. I have to do something, anything.
I step back to my door, opening and closing it so it would look like I just came out. I change my posture and face looking drowsy. I drag my feet, pushing the door open while I rub my eyes.
I put my hands down as I see them sitting beside each other, looking at me. I jump in supposed fright, yelping. I place my hand on my chest.
"Subhannallah, Afeeya? You're awake? Ya Fayadth? I didn't know you're here." Afeeya smiles while ya Fayadth hangs his head, not looking at me.
Look at me.
"You must've been frightened. We better go to sleep too. Shall we?" Fayadth nods as they stand up, still Fayadth not looking my way.
"Good night." They chorused. "Yeah, good night." They walked out as I relax. He didn't even look my way.
I scratch my head, this won't be a walk in the park.
