"So, what is this device?" Firestorm asked when Cisco and Harry produced the quantum splicer.

"It's a quantum splicer. It should bombard your cells with enough energy that it can force you to separate back into your individual selves." Cisco said.

"And you build it so quickly?" Firestorm asked.

"I modified an already existing project." Cisco explained and Firestorm nodded.

"Do you really think that it will work?" Firestorm asked.

"It's your best bet at being able to go home to your family Professor Stein." Cisco said.

"Then you may proceed." Firestorm said as Cisco cautiously placed the splicer on Firestorm's chest and as soon it was attached, the reaction happened instantly, separating Firestorm back into the two people who make him up, Jefferson Jackson and Martin Stein, though fortunately, without them causing any explosions.

"What the hell just happened?" Jax asked.

"You'll know in a minute." Cisco said as he used the memory ring to restore both Jax and Stein's memories.

"Was that really necessary Cisco?" Jax asked, annoyed.

"Considering it was the only way to keep you two in the same room together after we separated you, yes." Cisco said.

"Fair point." Jax said, before he fully realized what was going on.

"Grey." Jax said with a grin.

"Jefferson." Stein said as they hugged.

"I'm so glad you're alive and that is why we are not joining the Legends this time, at least not until after we get the matrix out of you." Jax said.

"Actually, the Legends have already been formed. We'll get you in touch with them as soon as we can get you two unlinked. But for now, we could use your help, Professor." Cisco said.

"With what?" Stein asked as Cisco explained the situation to him.

"Of course I'll help. If anything, I find this opportunity to be rather fascinating and I also believe that it means that splitting up Firestorm may have to wait a little while." Stein said.

"What are you talking about?" Jax asked.

"Until we're able to find a way to restore the speed force and Mr. Allen's powers, I think that Firestorm should help protect Central City." Stein said.

"Are you sure about this? I thought you wanted out of this life?" Jax asked.

"And I do, but I also know that I can't turn my back on this city." Stein said.

"And even after we restore the Speed force, we'll have another project we could use your help on." Harry said.

"And what might that be?" Stein asked.

"Splitting Caitlin and Frost apart, since they want to be able to live their own lives all the time without having to share a body." Harry said.

"I'll definitely be helping with that, though it would be different than Firestorm." Stein said, we know, but we figure if anyone can help with that, it would be you." Harry said and Stein nodded.

Team Flash spent the next few weeks working tirelessly on the artificial speed force machine until it was finally complete.

"So, what do we do now, since we don't even have anything strong enough to power this thing, even if we were going to use it to create an artificial speed force?" Cisco asked.

"I've been giving it some thought and I think I may know how we can adjust the machine to restore the normal speed force instead of creating an artificial one." Stein said.
