Reo finally sat down after a few minutes and took some deep breaths. She and her family had arrived at the airport after the half hour drive, having left only twenty or so minutes after she got back home from the restaurant. Given the situation, she told herself that she would rather leave as soon as possible- with limited goodbyes. Call it selfish if you may, but it meant she didn't feel as sad about it (or at least that was her plan).
She stopped and looked around the airport since she didn't have a phone or a magazine to keep her busy.
She admired the tall support beams running down from the ceiling, which was made of shiny glass panels connected by some sort of black wood or metal. She heard the soft clicking of heels on the tile from afar. The sound started getting closer and closer until Reo saw the flight attendant who was wearing the shoes responsible for the clacking noise. She started hearing singing as well; it was quiet and simple. She looked around so she could see who had the angelic singing voice she heard. After a few moments, she looked over to the mother and her baby. The mother was singing quietly and tapping her baby on the back. She looked around, as if she was making sure that her singing wasn't bothering anybody. The mother and Reo made eye contact and the mom stopped singing right away. She looked down at her baby and turned a little so that she was facing away from Reo. she couldn't exactly blame her, considering the state that Reo probably looked right now. She had only had a quick shower and threw on her baggiest clothes but the bags under her eyes were prominent as always and her hair disheveled.
Her parents were reading their checklist aloud as they ensured she wasn't forgetting anything. She didn't have to worry about furniture as her father had said that the job included full accommodation. Reo didn't really care about what she was going to at that moment, all she seemed to care about was what she was leaving behind.
She glanced at her older brother, who was more quiet than she's ever seen him, resting his head on his hand as he slouched on the airport seats.
"Hey rat," She kicked his foot, secretly trying to get him to smile, "don't get all grumpy, i'll send you some classic British souvenirs."
"Shut up." He grunted, causing her to roll her eyes. Behind them, their parents had begun frantically whispering to each other over god knows what. "You gonna join a volleyball club there?"
Reo thought about it. She had wanted to, but she didn't really know where to start, considering she would be doing an apprenticeship. She doubted she would even have time.
"I don't know what i'll end up doing." She scoffed as she leant back in her seat, "I barely even know what Dad does for a living and now i'm off to join his company!"
They both smiled a little before settling into the quiet again.
"Look, I tried to talk them out of it..." Tendō lowered his voice in defeat.
"Would you look at that," She gestured to the screen on the wall a few meters away from them, shaking off the subject of their parents, "Only a forty minute wait until I can board."
"She's going WHERE?"
"HUH?"
"What? Why?"
"Why didn't she tell us?"
The Karasuno boys stood up in shock and anger, making the empty plates on the table clatter. Well, not everyone stood up- Tsukki and Kageyama remained seated, but instead looked up in surprise.
No one could deny the feeling of hurt plastered on all of their faces at the news of Reo leaving to England.
Coach Ukai let out a sigh as he gestured for everyone to sit down.
