Chapter 15
“This case... Is a murder case.”
Mga salitang narinig ni Mr. Winston mula sa bibig mismo ni Attorney Collins. He heaved a relieve sigh.
Akala niya ay tatanggi rin ito na kunin ang kaso. But upon observing Attorney Collins' thrilled expression which he had seen in just a spur of the moment, he knew that his case was being taken care of.
He does not know why Attorney Collins seems excited about taking the case.
Was it because of personal matter?
A self-wanting revenge?
To feed his wrath to those murderers?
Or did he just seen it wrong? Mr. Winston asked himself.
He was doubting if what he saw from Attorney Collins was true or just a product of his imaginative mind. Not sure if his eyes was deceiving him a while ago.
Truth be told, the moment Attorney Collins finished reviewing the case and knew that it was a murder case. Something inside him was thrilled. The substance of the case itself, got his attention. It piqued his curiosity to knew the reason why people like them, if ever they turns out the real culprit, can commit such heinous crime.
Is it for self revenge?
A burning desire?
Cause of ill-fated relationship?
Groundless anger?
A psycho who killed humans for fun?
An act of revenge and rebellion?
For what reason, exactly?
It must be heavier enough to the point that they execute greater violence resulting to more terrible results — death.
“Do you believe in me, Mr. Winston?" Attorney Collins asked in monotone. Trying hard not to show any signs of excitement in his expression.
Remembering Mr. Winston remarks like how the case was rejected a lot of times. Alam niyang sinabi ni Mr. Winston ang bagay na 'yon to test if he will accept the case knowing that it will put his life to risk.
Well, he's working in the industry of law. It is his job to put someone where they belong. Hindi na bago sa kaniya na mailagay ang buhay sa kapahamakan. His life is already at risk simula nang pinasok niya ang mundo ng pag-aabogado.
Mr. Winston was taken aback by the sudden outburst of question coming from Attorney Collins.
If Mr. Winston dared to test Attorney Collins, Attorney Collins did the same in return. You see, trust is the most fundamental tool in making a deal to make the case a success.
“Of course, Attorney Collins. I won't be here if I don't trust you enough,” agarang sagot ni Mr. Winston nang makabawi.
“It is settled, then. I will take your case, in return, you need to give your full trust to me. Tell me everything in details, regardless if it just a small thing that you think cannot help the case, tell me still. I'm the one to judge,” he paused. “Can you do that, Mr. Winston?” he asked in calm manner.
Indeed, Attorney Collins does not need his half-baked trust but a whole trust in general.
“Makakaasa po kayo, Attorney,” Mr. Winston assured. His heart was in full joy. He strangely feel at ease knowing that he got Mr. Collins.
Kung dati ay nawawalan na ito ng pag-asang I laban ang kanilang kaso, ngayon ay doble naman ang sayang natanggap niya. He got Attorney Collins of all people. How lucky they can be? He could not ask for more.
