Chapter 26

"I thought we are here to talk things out, not to get you drunk," Attorney Grey Collins lectured, as he snatched the glass of whiskey out from Attorney Phoebe Quinnʼs grip.

"You won't understand," Attorney Quinn responded, trying to snatched back the whiskey she was drinking but Attorney Collins was too quick to notice so he moved it out of her reach.

"Then, let me understand," he fought, still holding the glass away from her reach.

His voice was too gentle that you cannot detect irritation in it.

"Talk to me. Explain it to me," he asked.

"Let me understand, hmm?" he uttered trying to convince her to open up.

"It wasn't that easy!" she shouted as tears started to poured down from her poor little eyes.

Attorney Collins nodded understandingly and drop the case. He is trying to be the big man here. He knew it wasn't the case Attorney Quinn is trying to convey, she didn't mean to shout at him. He knew, it was perhaps the alcoholʼs doing and he was trying hard to ignore it.

He signaled the waiter to have their bill checked so he can pay already and take Attorney Quinn out of the place.

Lumalalim na ang gabi at parami nang parami na ang taong pumapasok at kung hindi pa siya kikilos ay hindi malabong manatili sila nang matagal sa loob sapagkat pahirapan na ang makalabas. Not to mention the woman he is with, who is drunk and wasted already.

On cue, upon seeing their situation,
the waiter went to the counter and asked for their bill.

After paying out, Attorney Collins tried hard to assist Attorney Quinn on walking straight but no to avail. So in just less than a minute, Attorney Collins carried Attorney Quinn in a bridal carry.

It was in swift motion that Attorney Quinn got on Attorney Collins' broad shoulder.

"Put me down!" pagpupumiglas niya pa.

Something in her stomach does not feels right. She is about to throw up. Blame the alcohols she was drinking.

"Calm down, woman," Attorney Collins commanded.

Even though Attorney Phoebe Quinn started to irritate him big time, he just cannot leave her alone. Knowing what state she was in. He is not that heartless.

Nang mapansin ni Attorney Collins ang kalagayan ni Attorney Quinn ay walang patubiling binilisan ang kaniyang lakad. In a worst scenario, if Attorney Quinn will throw up, he at least wants it to happen away from the crowds' watch.

"Oh, the world is spinning," Attorney Quinn laughed like a mad drunkard.

She fixated her eyes to the man who carried her, trying to figure out who was it.

"It's the great attorney in town, Attorney Collins. What are you doing here? Do you perhaps like me," she chuckled. "Sorry to break it with you but I already like someone. Now, put me down before I sue you!" she continued as she started screaming nonchalantly.

In frustration, Attorney Collins dropped her off to the passenger's seat, then put her in a seatbelt.

"Where do you think you will bring me to?" Attorney Quinn, suspiciously asked.

She is indeed in big trouble! The alcohol is starting to swallow her whole.

"Sleep," Attorney Collins strictly ordered.

Authority was vividly heard in his voice.

And just like that, his words came like a warning sign, like a magic word that made Attorney Quinn fell asleep in deep like-chamber.
