Brendon: She's not here. To Tessa: She's dead. My wife is dead, and it's your fault! Tessa, you had ONE job!
Tessa: Oh, so now this is my fault? Who's the one who made a deal with Nico and then broke it, resulting in the chance of Sarah dying, Brendon? Was it me?
Brendon: Tessa Violet Williams, I swear, if you even try to tell me my wife dying was my fault, when I worked for Nico for months to try and keep her alive, I will-
Josh: Guys, we shouldn't waste time fighting over whose fault Sarah's death is. Seriously, you sound like Breezy and Dallon.
Dallon and Breezy, at the same time: HEY!
Knox: I mean, he's not wrong.
Dallon: Knox Oliver Weekes!
Knox: You're mad because I'm right.
Adam: Well, there's no way out of here. If we're all gonna die, shouldn't we confess our sins?
Tyler: Yeah, that's a good idea. I get the feeling that Jon would be proud of us.
Brendon: Yo, can I go first? There's something I really need to get off my chest.
Tyler: Yeah, sure. What is it?
Brendon: Well, I... Umm... He pauses.
Awsten: What are you waiting for? We're not getting any younger.
Tessa: AWSTEN! DON'T BE RUDE! To Brendon: I'm sorry about Awsten.
Brendon: No, no, it's fine. I mean, what else would you expect? It's Awsten. Anyway, uhhh, that thing I was gonna say...
Jack: Yeah?
Brendon tries to look Jack in the eyes, but he can't bring himself to.
Brendon: I-
Robbie: THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!
Brendon: I killed Jon.
Silence.
Jack: You WHAT?!?!
Dallon: You WHAT?!!?!?!?!?
Tessa: YOU WHAT????!?!?!
Brendon: Guys, I can explain.
Tessa: I think it's a little too late for that, Brendon. She says "Brendon" distastefully, as if it's a dirty word.
Brendon: I understand why you're mad. Jon was a great man.
Tessa: You would be saying "Jon is a great man," Brendon, if you hadn't killed him.
Brendon: Tessa, I get that you're upset, but just hear me out.
Flashback starts. It's the night before the Battle of Dema. Brendon is on the phone with Nico.
Nico, through the phone: Who would you say is the strongest member of Team Awesome?
Brendon: Easy: Jon Bellion, the team's healer. He's more than just a healer; he's like the mortar that holds this team together.
Nico, through the phone: Tomorrow, in Dema, take him out.
Brendon: Wh-what? Kill Jon? I could never. When I asked to join Team Awesome, Jon was the only one who trusted me.
Nico, through the phone: Then this Jon is a fool. Believe you me, the team will be better off without him. Besides, you recall our deal.
Brendon: Of course I do. If I don't follow your orders, you'll off Sarah. Fine, I'll do it. Against my will.
Nico, through the phone: This is about my will, Brendon Urie, not yours.
Brendon hangs up.
Brendon, voiceover: It turned out Jon's prophecy was in fact coming true, and I hated that I was the one who had to fulfill it. I knew what I had to do, as hard as it was, but for Sarah it was a sacrifice I was willing to make.
The scene changes to the Battle of Dema, just after Jon went into battle. Brendon approaches him.
Jon: Brendon, I know what you're about to do.
Brendon, caught off-guard: You wha- oh, the prophecy. I should have known.
Jon: I told the team I'd prophesized that one of us would die, but the truth was I'd prophesized that I would die at the hands of a traitor. And I knew from the prophecy I had before you arrived that you were the traitor.
Brendon: If you knew all of this, why didn't you tell the team?
Jon: Because I knew that if I told them, they'd try to intervene, and if there's one thing my millennia on this Earth have taught me, it's when people try to change their destiny, things get messy.
Brendon: Wow, I admire your calmness despite your imminent death. I really wish I didn't have to do this, but Sarah's life hangs in the balance, and-
Jon: No, don't apologize. I get it. As I told you, I'd probably do the same thing in your position.
Brendon: You're not gonna try to stop me? Don't you, um, want to live and stuff?
Jon: I don't fight fate, Brendon. This is what God intended for me: to die at your hands. It's been great knowing you, Brendon.
Brendon, as he ends Jon's life: I'm so sorry, Jon.
End of flashback. Back to present day. Brendon has just finished telling his story, and there's not a dry eye in the room.
Brendon: So uh, that's what happened.
Tessa: You- I- Wow, Brendon, I don't know what to say.
Brendon: Perhaps the words you're looking for are, "Thanks for finally telling us that, Brendon. It must have been hard to keep that to yourself all this time."
Tessa: No, Brendon, the words I'm looking for I can't say because Dallon would have a heart attack, so here's a watered-down version that won't give Dallon a heart attack. Beebo, you can't just confess to killing the most beloved Team Awesome member and expect everything to be perfectly fine. Jon trusted you, Brendon. I trusted you. And now I'm starting to regret it.
Brendon: Believe me, Tessa, if I had my way Jon would still be alive. I didn't want to kill him.
Tessa: And yet you did. God, Brendon, who even are you?
Hayley: Not the person you all thought he was, that's for sure. Neither am I, surprise surprise.
Brendon: Hayley, shut up.
Hayley: Don't give me orders, traitor. See, Brendon wasn't the only one hiding something. I was also a mole sent by Nico. My job? To keep Brendon in line, make sure he doesn't turn soft. Which I failed at.
Brendon: I haven't gone soft!
Hayley: Ah, yes. Denial. I'll say for you what you refuse to admit yourself: marriage has softened you, Brendon. You're not the man I knew all those years ago.
Jack: If he's soft now, I don't think I want to know what he was like back then.
Brendon, clearly ticked off: You know, I'm not as soft as you seem to think, Hayley. I could kill you right now if I wanted to.
Hayley: Go ahead and do it then. Nobody's stopping you. Unless you're too soft?
Brendon, charging at Hayley: I'll show you how soft I am.
Tessa: Guys, guys. Calm down. Before anyone kills anyone, we need to figure out how to get out of here.
Robbie: Tessa, have you gone mad? You literally have super strength. Kick down the door or something.
Tessa: Right. Let me just- She kicks down the door.
Awsten: WE'RE FREE!
Everyone leaves. End of episode. Roll credits.
