The whole team gets in the van. There's a lot of them, so they're all very squished.
Tessa: I think I can speak for everyone here when I say this is not comfortable.
Josh: Aye. Now I know how toothpaste feels.
Breezy: Me too.
Tyler: Gracie, you're the only one who knows where we're going. How long will it be till we get there?
Gracie: Oh, it shouldn't be too long. Only about 18 hours, with no traffic.
Jenna: Excuse me? Only 18 hours? We're going to Texas, not Timbuktu!
Gracie: I made this drive once before. With Awsten, no less. I think y'all will be fine.
Tyler: You drove for 18 hours with Awsten? And didn't kill him?
Gracie: Believe me, I came pretty dang close a few times.
Alba: You're a saint, Gracie. I don't think I'd be able to do that.
Awsten: Guys, I am right here!
Tyler: Aws, this is what you need to hear. You, my friend, need to eat some humble pie.
Chloe: Pie? I like pie.
Tyler: IT'S A FIGURE OF SPEECH, CHLOE!
Chloe: I don't know what that means, but if you say so.
Amélie: I don't get it. Chloe has wings, how come she can't just fly to Texas?
Chloe: I had thought about that. It's too far, though, and I get tired easily.
Amélie: Ah.
Cut. The next scene opens with Brendon arriving at what's left of the Cavetown base. With him are the vampires who found and turned him.
Emerson: Are you sure this is the nest of your human coven, Brendon?
Brendon: Yeah, but I dunno what happened to it. Nico's people must have burnt it down. Lemme call Tessa, make sure she and the team are alright.
Brendon calls Tessa.
Tessa, through the phone: Who is this, and how did you get Brendon's phone?
Brendon: It's me, Brendon. I'll explain everything in good time, but Tessa, where are you and the team? Are you guys okay? What happened to the base?
Tessa, through the phone: We're in Texas. Awsten and Gracie's family has a ranch there. And yeah, we're fine. A little tired from 18 consecutive hours of driving, but otherwise fine. And as for what happened to the base, Jack burnt it down after we decided to relocate as a precautionary measure in case Nico sent people. But I'm still confused as to how you're alive.
Brendon: Like I said, I'll explain everything in good time. My friends and I just got to the base. Or rather, what's left of the base. I'm glad to hear y'all are okay. I wanted to rejoin the team, and my friends insisted on coming with, so yeah.
Tessa, through the phone: Okay. I'm just glad you're alive. Shocked, but glad. I'll send you the address of the ranch.
Brendon: Alright, cool. He hangs up. Boys, we're going to a ranch.
