Laying on her bed, Marinette closed her eyes. Why wasn't she happy? She had finally gotten a chance to experience what she had been wanting for a year. What she had been pining for.
"Tikki," Marinette whispered, "I don't know what I was expecting. What did I think would happen? I imagined fireworks, sparkles, and magic. None of that happened. Nothing changed. Everything's still the same, I just have a different label now. The label didn't change how I feel. I still feel lonely. I feel like there's this hole inside of me. Luka didn't fill it. I thought Adrien would. But he doesn't. The hole is still empty. What's the point of me being with Adrien when I feel sympathy when I'm with him. I feel sympathy for him. He loves me and yet I can't return that love. I thought I could. Was it even love?"
A response didn't come from her side. Marinette took a glance at Tikki to find her sleeping peacefully. Marinette smiled softly before pulling the small cloth covering Tikki closer to her chin.
"I'm glad you can't feel love, Tikki," Marinette said softly, "I don't want you to go through the pain love brings."
Exhausted from the party that occurred three hours ago, Marinette fell sleep, the sinking feeling of guilt staying in her chest, getting bigger like a plague.

"Marinette, would you like to dance with me?"
Marinette's eyes shot wide open. She looked to the side. 10 more minutes until Kitty Section's rehearsal started.
"Tikki, I'm gonna be late again!"
Marinette got ready as fast as she could before grabbing her purse and heading out. Her hair traveled behind her as she flew down her stairs. It had already been a day since she had said the words she was denying. She didn't have the time to put it up, partially because her hands shook too much when she thought about the time when Adrien had liked her with her hair down.
In almost no time at all, she was in front of the ship where the rehearsals occurred. Adrien was no where to be seen, which was unusual as he usually attended after convincing his father. She sat besides Kagami, as she was the only one present besides the band who were tuning their instruments.
"Where's Adrien?" Marinette asked. Although everyone else was missing as well, Adrien usually got there earlier than everyone else along with Kagami. Marinette didn't know the exact reason why, but she assumed it had something to do with their strict parents.
"I was about to ask you the same thing. He held back a lot at practice yesterday, and looked as if his heart was broken. I know because I've seen that same look in the mirror."
"I—I broke up with him yesterday," Marinette said, "I couldn't love him, Kagami, I just couldn't. I was talking to Ti—myself—two nights ago and I can't keep on pretending my feelings are still there. I still felt alone when I was with him. I—"
"I thought you loved him? You told me you loved him."
A feeling of desperation hit Marinette, "I just couldn't."
"Why?" The question was one Marinette didn't have an answer to.
"I just couldn't, Kagami."
"I heard you fine the first time. Why?"
"Because I can't love him when I love you." Marinette gasped before clasping her hands over her mouth. She quickly shook her hands in front of her, "I—I'm sorry I have no idea where that came from."
"You... love me?"
"No, I—I don't know why I said that, I'm sorry. I—I—I didn't mean it."
"You don't love me?"
"No—I—"
Kagami's hazel eyes looked at Marinette's bluebell eyes.
"Marinette, I love you too."
