Aragorn seemed to notice her slight shivering as they walked against the cruel wind. As if instinctively he wrapped his arms around her. As Annika's cheeks flushed not only from the cold, Aragorn whispered huskily, "Are you alright?" All she could do was nod as they walked on. Legolas watched the proceedings with interest from the front; he had always harbored feelings for Annika. But seeing her happy? Well, that was alright with him. Annika noticed his staring at her, and he smirked as they trudged through Caradhras's unforgiving weather.

Suddenly, the mountain grew darker.

"What's going on?" Merry asked as he and Pippin clung to each other,  afraid of the cold.

"I don't know!" Annika yelled. "Never have I encountered weather like this here!"

Suddenly, Legolas stopped in his tracks.

~Annika~

"What is it, Legolas?" I said, listening to the tense cold air around us.

"There is a fell voice on the air!" He stated with alarm.

"It's Saruman!" The wizard yelled worriedly as thunder rolled through the sky, causing most of us to inch closer to him. Within an instant the rumbling I thought I had heard turned into almost understandable words.

"Traitor," I hissed, closing my eyes to restrain my fury towards Saruman. The consequences of my full blown anger could make everything worse.

Aragorn's grip on me grew a bit stronger. "He's trying to bring down the mountain!" He shouted urgently. Pulling the hobbits closer to him, he yelled, "Gandalf, we must turn back!"

"NO!" He boomed as he countered the spells. The wind slowed and so did the snow, but everything became harsher as lighting struck the cliff we were under.

"Move!" I cried as the snow came tumbling down. All I could hear was my name being shouted as I shoved Aragorn and the hobbits away, and as the ground under my feet disappeared. The descending sea of white turned to black.
