Annika looks down at the unclear water disapprovingly, as a small huff leaves her lips. "Something isn't right." she whispers to Aragorn beside her. "You think there may be something down there?"

"I am sure there is,'' he mumbled. At that moment Merry and Pippin began to throw pebbles into the lake, laughing gently to themselves as they attempted to skip the rocks across.

Annika and Aragorn sent each other a worried look as they raced over to the hobbits, halting their arms as they tried to skip more.

"Do not disturb the water." Aragorn ordered firmly.

As they dropped their stones Annika and Aragorn went over to a quiet corner, keeping watch over the rest.

"About what I said on Caradhras," Aragorn began as the other ranger looked down at the ground. "I do care for you. And I always will, no matter what."

Before Annika could reply, "Oh, it's useless!" Gandalf exclaims, dropping his staff and sitting down beside Frodo. As he took off his grey hat something caught his eye.

A ripple runs gently on the surface of the murky, seemingly lifeless water. With furrowed eyebrows and a deep sigh he hoped that the danger would disappear.

He knows what's down there.

Frodo stood, reading with curious eyes the script on the doorway.

"Speak, friend, and enter." he thought. "Speak. friend and enter. Speak friend, and enter.

Speak 'friend' and enter... It's a riddle!" Frodo jumped and looked excitedly at the rest of the Fellowship. "Speak 'friend' and enter. What's the Elvish word for friend?"

"Mellon..."

A loud crack rumbles from the stone doors as they slowly swing open, the Fellowship entering Moria.

Legolas and Annika sent a wary look to each other. The small breeze that came out smelled of havoc, ruin, and~

Death.

"It's d-dark..." Annika exclaims, suddenly wanting to step out. Aragorn places an arm around her in comfort as she uncontrollably snuggled closer.

"Soon, Master and Mistress Elf, " Gimli's voice boomed with excitement, "You will enjoy the fabled hospitality of the Dwarves! Roaring fires, malt beer, ripe meat off the bone. This, my friend, is the home of my cousin, Balin."

Gandalf looks to Annika as she brings up her hand slowly, letting a sphere of moonlight form.

Gandalf brings his hand around his staff, blowing upon a crystal. It glows.

"And they call it a mine. A mine!" Gimli rambles on.

"This is no mine," Boromir muttered with a haunting tone. Legolas glanced at Annika with pity as she followed the gaze of the man... and gasped. There were broken and battered forms strewn about, covering the floor along with dust and dirt.

"It's a tomb!"

"No!" Gimli cried.

Annika shuddered softly.

"This is where my mother nearly died..."
