"How'd it go?" Cristina questioned while shooting up from her chair as they wheeled her back into the room.

"It was successful, she tried to bail on us but we got her back." Bailey said sadly. They knew her body was weak but without that liver there was no telling if she could receive a new one.

Cristina sat down beside her bedside and stroked her pale face. She had missed something so big. She should've know that Meredith wouldn't just randomly unfriend her, just stop talking to her after they had become so close.

"Hey." Jo whispered frown the doorway. She had needed a break from the room but after hearing about the surgery.

"Hi." Cristina smiled while looking up at her. The two had never really communicated before this whole fiasco. Jo walked over cautiously and sat down on the other side of her bed. The two sat there in awkward silence before Cristina decided to speak.

"Did you- did you know? About.. Derek." She whispered with swallowing the saliva stuck in her throat.

"I- I didn't know I just.. I saw a bruise on her neck. One time but she said- she said she was fine. And when she-" jo contemplated whether she should mention the miscarriage to anyone. Meredith had said she didn't want anyone to know.
"Dr. Robbins saw some on her leg I believe. But we- we didn't know." Jo whispered as improvisation.

"Yeah.." Cristina whispered. She sat there silently. Focusing on the steady pump of her vent as it filled her with oxygen and the stable beating of her heart.
"She should wake in an hour or two. Be kept here for observation for about a week. The- the police had stuff wanna get a statement from her but.. but I don't know is she's ready for that." Cristina muttered.

"She's strong. She'll do it over time." Jo smiled lightly while looking at her bandaged cast. Everything would heal in time. Her tracheal damage and nerve damage in her hand taking longer than the simple breaks. Definitely need physical therapy along with mental, but they wouldn't know how well Meredith with agree to that. She was a guarded person. It wasn't a secret. Jo looked up to see Cristian beginning to let soft tears fall. If she's learnt anything from this intern is that she didn't cry.

"It's okay. She'll be okay." Jo reached her hand over the bed and gripped Cristina's shaking limb.

"I just- I don't know, I should've.. I should've noticed or done something." Cristian sobbed slightly.

"No. No no no. It's no ones fault, there's no way we couldn't known! If Meredith had told us what do you think would happen? We give him one dirty look and he hurts her more. She went to a hospital full of strangers and he freaking kidnapped her! The only one at fault is Derek. Damn sociopath." Jo fought her thoughts. It was no ones fault. Jo had a lot of therapy and support to get that thought out of her own head when she was in a similar situation.

"She was literally battered and beat so much that she was scared to tell people. How- I don't understand how someone could do that to another person.. she's so small and kind and I I just.. I don't get it." Cristian muttered while letting go of Jo's hand and wiping her wet cheeks.

"There's a lot of reasons people do the things they do. Not valid reasons but still reasons. Revenge, threats, mental health.." Jo whispered. While looking back to Meredith's resting face.

"Threats?" Cristian questioned. She was confused on some of the stuff regarding the situation.

"You know.. someone contacts you and says that if you don't kill this person or torture or whatever they'll kill your mom or something." Jo murmured. It was a horrible thing that people actually did, to get revenge or just because they didn't like the person or their family or something. It was violent and evil.
