You sat in your room on a beanbag with Joe. You were covered in a blanket and watching a movie with Joe. You sighed closing your eyes and laying your head on his shoulder.
"What's up?" He asked pausing the movie.
"I can't help but think that my family is gonna be weird about you being here." You said. "They ask really personal questions."
"So do you." He grinned. "Besides, I finally understand where you get that really open and cozy feeling from,.you're always so ready to listen and it's because you grew up in such a non-toxic environment."
"I suppose so, but it wasn't always like that." You shrugged. "It was actually really hard when dad came back, I didn't understand, he came back with a half brother and him and mom got married but they were obviously not in love..." You paused putting a hand over your heart. "Teenage me didn't understand, I wanted to hate my mom and dad for not being in love, for not being like everyone else's parents... But I just couldn't. That's not how love works, you can love people but not want to kiss and hug and be embarrassingly lovey. It took me a while to learn that, and during those years I hurt myself so many times, I got reckless while skating."
"....I see." He nodded.
"...I kept all of the X-rays, and all of my past prescription bottles, some of the pills still halfway full, my nana is a miracle worker, I rarely needed a full prescription." You said. "....I know the date of the worst one."
".....You seem like you might not want to share that you don't have to." Joe smiled gently.
"....I had to have a surgery because of internal bleeding, it wasn't even caused from skating." You sighed. "It hurts to hear the things doctors tell you when they relate to the rest of your life.."
".....I'm sorry." Joe sighed. "Maybe we can talk about it when you're ready, I did a little research on the plane and there's a mountain hot springs not far from here, I was thinking we could go."
"Sure, I should really get off this topic anyways, that doctor checkup always makes me depressed when I think about it." You sighed gently getting up and helping Joe from the beanbag. "We actually have towels for the hot springs, we go very often."
"Alright." Joe smiled following you down the stairs.
"Hey, y/n." Grandma said. "I overheard you're heading to the hot springs, take this." She handed you a bottle of lavender colored ointment. "Rub it on your injuries, it should help, I'm not miracle worker but it should at least help heal your leg." She laughed a bit. "It also helps with soreness."
"Thank you nana." You smiled kissing her forehead.
"Hey! Are you heading out to the hot springs?" Miya asked running downstairs. "Could you pick up those flowers again? If they're blooming! It would save me a night time trip."
"Of course Miya, make sure to get some sleep tonight, you're always playing those games until late." You grinned.
"I will! We have plans tomorrow remember! You have to show me how you twirl around while on the track! You even twirled Adam with you! He has to be like twice your weight!!" Miya said.
"Of course, but remember, it might be a little hard with my broken wrist and fingers alright?" You asked.
"Okay!" He nodded.
