It was your last month of your year of Highschool, meaning this week was your last week for paying your ticket for Prom and then the following week was your graduation. You weren't going, bit you wanted to go on a date and you wanted to ask out this one special guy. Darry Curtis. You have lived across the street from the boys for the longest, since when Ponyboy was a baby and you were six years old. Back then, Darry was 7 or 8 and Sodapop was 3 or 4 years old.

You started to have feelings for Darry over a year now but you never said anything since you two had a very good bond than the other boys. Your parents always liked them. “They're good boys.” Your parents would say, and it was true. Your mom would always say things whenever Darry was around, something like:

“You guys would be perfect together!”

“When are you two gonna start dating?”

Whenever that happened, you would give a look to your mom which always make her smile sweetly at you. Darry would just shake his head and laugh.

But you really did like him, he was a hard working guy who didn't look for trouble at all.

It was monday morning and you crossed the street to go over the boy's house and go to school with Ponyboy and Johnny. The boys always let the dor open so you just walked in. Darry was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. He would always make alot since he knew you always stopped by. You put your bag in the couch and walked to the kitchen. His back was towards you and you walked slowly towards him.

“Morning (Y/n)” Darry says to you without looking.

“Gosh Darry! I wanted to scare you!” You say to him he laughs at your fail trick.

“You always try but it never works.” He says.

“Anyway, goodmorning Darry. How was your day yesterday?” You say as you take a banana from the counter.

“It was an Okay day for me. We missed you though. Dally was just laying down the whole time and Sodapop, Two-Bit and Steve had to cook for themselves. Ponyboy needed someone to read to but then he just read to Johnny.” He said as you both laughed. You had gone on Friday to your grandparents house and didn't come home until late sunday night. It was surprisingly that you weren't tired at all.

But something about what Darry said wasn't quite right to you. Did he not miss you? Was it only the boys who did?

“Darry, did you miss me?”

“Of course I did (Y/N). Why wouldn't I?”

“Maybe because you just said what the boys missed about me and you didn't.” You laughed.

“(Y/n), I missed talking to you every minute, hearing you laugh at Dally's combats towards you, your delicious food, or listening to you talk about poems and books with Pony.” You felt your heart beating faster at every word Darry said.

“Really?” You ask him.

“Really.” You were about to ask him if he can be your prom date but Sodapop and Two-Bit came in.

“Hey (y/n)! Guys (y/n) is here!” Soda says as him and Two-Bit violently hugs you.

“I was gone for three days.”

“Yeah but it felt like forever.” Steve says.

“Have you asked him yet?” Two-Bit asks you as the rest of the boys are too busy getting their food. Two-Bit knew you liked Darry since he heard you talking to one of your friends one time. He wanted you guys to date as well and he even had mentioned that Darry likes you too but you never believe him since it's Two-Bit that you were talking to.

“No, I haven't asked him yet.” You say. He looks at Darry and back at you.

“Hey Darry, (Y/n) has to talk to you.” Two-Bit says. You look at him in shock and then look at Darry who is looking at you with a worried look.

“Is something wrong (y/n)?” He says as he walks toward you. You smile at him and shake your head. The other boys were in the living room talking and laughing, so they really didn't hear anything.

“Everything is fine Darry.'” You smile at him.

“Then?”

“I like you Darry. We've been knowing each other since we were little, you were always there for me, especially during my breakups. When I was sick, you would check up on me before you left to work and when you came back. Your personality is just one of a kind, and your smile brightens up my days. This friday is Prom, but I don't want to go. I know it's my last year but it's too much. I wanted to ask you out on a date if that's okay with you.” When you finished, you looked at Darry who was staring back at you.

“I like you too (y/n). I've liked you for the longest, I just didn't say anything because I didn't know if you did too. I couldn't stand seeing you cry for those assholes. Or seeing you sick in bed while your parents were working. My smile only appears when I see you. You're the reason for my smile.”

You blush at his words, you never hear Darry talk like that, and if the boys heard it, you knew they would make fun of him for a while.

“Now that we both know we like each other, (y/n)?”

“Yeah?” You answer him.

“Would you be my girlfriend and go on a date with me this Friday?” He says.

“I would love to be your girlfriend Darry.” He smiles at you and stands you up from your chair. You were a little short next to him. A couple of inches shorter than Pony atleast.

Darry holds your hands in his as he looks at you.

“Can I kiss you?” He asks. You nod your head as you both start leaning forward. Once your lips touched, you knew he was the one. You started to hear cheering and howls coming from the living room. You both stop and and look towards the room to see the boys looking at you. Darry and you laugh as you put your head in his chest.

“I knew this was going to happen!” Steve yells out.
