Rose's POV

Janice and I talk about what we are doing this weekend as we wait for Chance to come in the room and start the meeting. I hear the door open and look over seeing Chance walking in followed by a six-foot five God. He was well built judging by the way he filled out his three-piece suit with dark brown hair and crystal blue eyes. I mean this man oozed sex. I looked around and noticed all the females pushing up their breasts and leaning forward even the men looked mesmerized by him. I bit back a laugh at all the people vying for the man's attention. I mean he is good looking and well, hot but I'm not going to start pushing up my cleavage and bat my eyes at him like everyone else. Chance cleared his throat, and everyone looks at him for a brief second before turning their eyes back on the guest.

"I see you all noticed we have a guest with us today. This is Brian Taylor. He is the new owners right hand man." What?? Did he just say new owner? I didn't know the magazine was up for sale or was in trouble for that matter. I glanced around the room, but it seems no one seemed to care they kept staring at Brian. Am I the only one paying attention even Janice has hiked up her breasts showing her cleavage which is very unusual for her? I look over at Brian and see he is staring at me with a smirk on his face. Whatever buddy. You might be hot but I'm not like everyone else. I rolled my eyes and looked back at my boss. "Brian is here to conduct interviews and to tail people on their assignments to see how this place works and report back to his boss. I hope you all will do your very best at making him feel comfortable. Rose, I want to see you in my office as soon as the meeting is over." I nodded and sat back in my chair listening to the rest of the meeting thinking about why the old owner decided to sell his company. After thirty minutes of prattle and women and men swooning over Brian we were finally dismissed. I quickly made my way to Chance's office and waited on him to arrive. He walked in followed by Brian and then closed the door. "Rose this is Brian. Brian this is Rose she writes about the new and happening places and she writes the tips on sex and beauty for the magazine." Brian's hand shoots out and I shake it. I feel a pull towards him but not like a sexual pull but something weird. I let go of his hand and take my seat.

"So, what did you want to see me about Chance?" I just want to get this over with and head home. I want to finish my work for this month's magazine to turn in by tomorrow night. It's really important to get it done as I'll be busy the next little bit as a new night club is opening and I have to concentrate on getting VIP tickets and everything.

"Well, Brian and our new owner are big fans of your column. I told them you are going to be featuring the new night club Sex Appeal that is opening up this coming weekend. Brian asked if he could follow you on this assignment and I told him of course." He looked at me with steal in his eyes. He knows how I hate working with people damn him. He knew if Brian was in here too, I couldn't fight him on this.

"Fine, I see I have no choice. I'll work on getting two VIP tickets to opening night. How hard could that be." I say trying to keep the hostility out of my voice.

"Rose, please allow me to get those tickets for you since I am imposing on you. No need to worry consider it done." Brian said with a stupid smirk on his face.

"That would be a great help but are you sure you can get them. It's hard enough for me to get one for opening night two will be near impossible." I said with a smirk of my own.

"Don't worry your pretty little head about it. I told you consider it done." He winked at me then stood up and took his leave. What the hell was that? After the door closed, I turned my attention back to Chance.

"Ok spill it. Why did the old owner sell the company? I thought it was a family business passed down from his father."

"Well, he told me that the new owner paid five times what it's worth and let me tell you that is a lot of zeros. He said it would be stupid to turn it down. Look Rose, I know you hate working with people or having them go with you when you do your work, but it is really important that you play nice. I don't know anything about the new owner nor about Brian so I can't stop them from firing you if you don't play nice. You are a hard worker and good at what you do so please just this once bite your tongue not everyone gets you like me." I nodded my head in agreement. I totally need my job, so I guess I better heed Chance's advice just this once. "Now let me see your journal." I handed it over and waited while he looked over my work. After he was done, he handed it back with a smile. "Good work as usual. I expect the final result will be in tomorrow?"

"You know me so well. I will drop off the final article tomorrow evening at the latest. Now I really must be going if I am to keep to my schedule. I do hope Brian is able to come through with the VIP tickets."

"I have no doubt he will so don't worry about it. See you at the next meeting Rose." He waved at me as I exited his office. Walking out I saw Janice sitting at her desk looking more like herself.

"I'm out of here Janice. Drinks at our normal bar tomorrow girly." I say as I walk to the elevator. She waves and gives me a thumbs up as I hop on the elevator dreading having Brian follow me around Friday.
