TWO WEEKS LATER
"She's at it again." Jungkook storms into the staff room with a case file, a heavy sigh passing his cracked lips in the process.
In all honesty, he was tired, drained, and his appearance had failed to conceal that.
"Why am I not surprised?" Namjoon groans, hands holstering up to rub his fatigued eyes as he leans his head back in utter frustration.
"She never leaves us alone, huh." Aera crosses her arms over her chest, an annoyed scoff shooting past her trashy veneers as she rolls her eyes.
"Apparently not." Jungkook chucks the papers for the case onto the table before perching on the edge.
"Lim Jaebum, a high profile CEO was killed in one of Paris' most low profile strip clubs." Namjoon and Aera's eyes remain glued on Jungkook's as he explains, brains trying their hardest to process the information, despite it being 7 A.M.
"He was there on a business trip and I suppose he felt lonely and wanted to kill time. I mean, that's the main reason men like him go to places like that, right?" A sickly chuckle sounds in the air, all focus shifting onto a giggling Aera.
Namjoon raises a brow while sending a quick glance to a perturbed looking Jungkook.
"Oh Kookie, you wouldn't know?" Jungkook's lips purse into a thin line while he mentally cringes from the nickname she'd come out with.
He was used to her calling him that, but it doesn't mean he should have to be.
"No, love. I have better things to be doing than getting my dick sucked at some random strip club, if that's what you're suggesting?" Jungkook tenses up as he shoots Aera a heavy glare, foot tapping impatiently against the carpet below.
"Now, with that said, may I continue?" It was more a rhetorical question than anything, because in truth, he wouldn't allow her to interrupt with a slimy comment again.
Especially one concerning his dignity.
"Go ahead boss, I'm not stopping you." Aera mockingly raises her hands in the air, evident from the small smirk plastered onto her fake lips.
"He was killed in a rather masochistic way, I'll spare you the details, by the stripper who was supposedly covering another girl's shift." The pair listen attentively, attention solely focused on Jungkook and his next words.
"Was there anyone who spoke to her before it happened?" Namjoon speaks up, eyes narrowing as he rubs his index over his full lip in thought.
"Yes, actually. One of the men on duty took down her name for the replacement stripper." Aera suddenly leans forward, eyes igniting when she sees the light at the end of the tunnel.
Her heartbeat rattles against the cage of her chest.
Could this finally be the end?
"Okay cool, so let's send her information off and get her identified!" Aera smiles, relieved at the thought of them being a few phone calls and meetings away from finding their most wanted female assassin.
"You see, that's the problem." Jungkook stares at Aera, pitiful.
He wished more than anything that he didn't have to say the next words that were about to slither past his teeth.
In his eyes, if God were truly on his side, he wouldn't even need to think about saying them.
"She said her name's Kang Aera."
