The rain runs in ropes as Areum exits the building she'd been confined to for what felt like eternity, hand having unforgivingly slipped into Jungkook's on their passion-fuelled journey out of there.
Having clocked onto this disgustingly sweet gesture, Areum looks down at hers and Jungkook's interlocked hands before pulling away.
"Where's Jimin?" Areum looks around at her surroundings, the heavy rain merging everything into one and hence, blurring her vision.
"Good question, darling. I don't see him anywhere, do you?" Jungkook counters, slightly hurt by Areum's body language and dismissal of his touch.
"I thought he'd be here, waiting . . ." Areum stares at the ground below, looking back at her own reflection in a nearby puddle, birthed by the heavy falling of rain above, yet, the woman staring back at her isn't the one she'd always dreamt of portraying to the world.
No, this was a woman so fragile and weak, that one more push may knock her so far down that she'd be unable to get back up and go again, just as she's always done.
"I'm here now, Yuri." At this, Areum slowly turns to face Jungkook, the sound of her real name rolling off his tongue causing her lips to fall apart.
It felt right.
For a split second, the world stands still, awaiting to see whether Areum was going to run into Jungkook's arms or decline his obvious want for her longing.
However, what's left of her heart forces her to do the former.
Only, theoretically speaking of course.
Instead, Areum gently steps towards Jungkook, dark locks sticking to his forehead as rain trickles down his cheeks and sloping nose.
A droplet falls from his to her's, causing Areum to internally giggle like a fucking child, but it was a special moment, there's no denying that.
She found it obscene how one look into those coffee orbs had the power to make her believe that everything was going to be okay, even if only for a split second, but all the same, they held the power to cause Areum to believe her world could turn black in just the same amount of time.
She figured that Jungkook was either the light at the end of the tunnel or the key to her eternal suffering.
There was no in between.
"Forget him, baby. He never cared about you, and he never will. The only person he cares about is himself. How can you forget that he left you to rot?"
Jungkook spits his words out, pure passion and rage spilling into every syllable as he pictures a smug Jimin in his mind.
Oh, how badly he wanted to punch his lights out.
"You're right . . . but I'm not rotten just yet. In fact, I'm just getting ripe." Areum smiles up at Jungkook like a happy child, stars dancing in her eyes.
At this, Jungkook can't help but smile in return, reaching out to tuck a few strands of hair behind Areum's ears.
"That's my Yuri." Shivers race down Areum's spine once Jungkook leans in, a finger poised beneath her chin as his breath fans her lips.
He looks from the pretty pillows to her gleaming eyes, as if asking for her permission.
In turn, Areum looks upon the cherry-like buds within her direct eye-line, sending him the green light to victory.
So without another wasted second, their lips connect in a showdown of want and belonging.
Nothing but passion erupts in their mouths as their tongues mould with one another's, dancing in unison while the soft pillows of their lips glide over each other.
Areum moans into Jungkook's mouth, digging her claws into his scalp while Jungkook wraps his strong arms around her waist, locking her in place.
Eventually pulling away, breathless, all the pair can do is gaze at one another in awe, amazed at how they'd gone from wanting to rip each other's throats out to this very moment.
One full of clarity, contentment, and the foreshadowed chaos which lay ahead, because, much like two sides of the same coin, Choi Yuri and Jeon Jungkook are forged together, but never facing the same direction.
